But that was the main reason I complained..okay, maybe if she hadn't asked..but when your superior tells you a customer is right, how the hell do you work up the nerve to do it your own way?

And I did print out a copy of the policy, but when I went looking for it at the CS desk, I couldn't find it...good thing the CSM knew the policy.
Some cashiers think that they are about their bosses, I guess.
    Oooooh. Customer Service Specialist.
Maybe she is from head office, doing a quality control check on the store.
Anyway, I still say - Way to Go!!!!

The CS girl is incorrect, there should be no overage allowed on this coupon. It stated right on the coupon that "change will not be given back if Skinny Cow product(s) under $5 are purchased".

Huh, are you sure? I read it an didn't see that line..
But the cashier was trying to say no overages, period, not that the coupon said it.

    Yup.
The cashier did not know about the Walmart policy about overages.

Yep! I was quoting that line directly from the coupon. The CS manager didn't read the coupon correctly either...in this case WM should not allow overage bc the manufacturer stated that on the coupon.

If the skinny cow items you bought have taxes on them (and many of the sandwishes etc do) then you should get the whole $5 because they would then be $4.97 plus tax.

Oohh, so I wasn't in the wrong then, lol.
Cause the CSM rerang it after getting the coupon and it came up $5.67 with the taxes.

Nope, because of the "tax is included in face value of coupon" part. It works like the $ or cents off coupon.
Instead of saying "up to $5 maximum" where WM can give overage, Nestle trying to disallow that by adding the "no change back" part and set the coupon value at the "actual" price if lower than $5. But like I said before WM CS manager didn't catch that so enjoy your free ice cream. You lucky this time.

Terrible hassel. But at least you stood your ground. Hopefully more stores and cashiers will become better aquainted with coupons and how to use them properly.

I live near by but rural. I do all my shopping in Cambridge, I know for a fact the Walmart off Hespeler does. But as always it's a good idea to carry a copy of the coupon policy in your binder. There is always those situations where apparently it's up to us as the consumer to prove to the store employee's what their own policies are LOL
