OK, so today I had plans to have a special celebration at my Grandsons school. It's his birthday today, yes, he's a summer solstice baby. This morning I wake up to grey skies yet again and the news that downtown Calgary is flooding. I just watched a boat...yes a boat in Mission (close to downtown) evacuating people from their homes Roads washed out everywhere and Deerfoot is a mess. All schools in Calgary are closed and all business both downtown and in other areas. The news and police are requesting that if you don't need to leave your home today, don't. Don't go to work, get to high ground and stay there!!!!!

Yes I am....well, I thought I was!!! But, now Deerfoot bridges are being closed and I'm about 15 feet above Deerfoot so...if it keeps rising we may be in trouble. I'm really worried about travelling to Lethbridge today, but I'll check with AMA before we leave.

They are continuing to close roads. The water is about 15 feet below where we live, but we are under a state of emergency, they have sent police down from Edmonton to help out and are closing roads as we speak. To get to Lethbridge this afternoon will take us about an extra 1.5 hours as we need to take secondary roads way out of the water range. They haven't closed the number 2 or 3 past the city yet, but it's a great possibility

The City of Calgary
about an hour ago near Calgary
Power has been shut off in evacuated communities for the safety of citizens and first responders. However, Enmax is unable to isolate portions of the power grid by community and as a result Calgarians living in neighbourhoods bordering evacuated communities may also be experiencing power outages. Enmax asks for the patience of all Calgarians currently experiencing power outages. We all need a little sunshine every now and then

ALL schools in calgary are closed honey... stay home
They are asking everyone that is in a safe place to just stay home. Only emergency workers and healthcare workers are asked to be out.
