My daughter and I both signed our donor application before she went in for her big surgery at the beginning of June. I was in tears when I physically put those documents in an envelope and put postage on them. I always said that I wanted to be a donor, but never actually put it in writing until then. There is always a risk with any surgery - as simple or complicated as they may be, but just the thought of my daughter initiating the donor application at that time knowing the risks of surgery choked me up....

When we were in the surgical waiting room at HSC at the time of my daughter's surgery, we met another mom & dad whose 7 year old son was in the process of receiving a liver transplant and I think the main vein transplant (aorta???). They were ecstatic that Jake was getting a second chance.... Seeing how happy this family was reconfirmed that we did the right thing....

....good for you.....and to meet a recipient family was a bonus, so you could see the potential results of your actions...no doubt about it, it's an emotional thing.....TR

Wow, just found out some bad news. An old schoolmate and sports buddy of mine had an accident on the weekend and is on life support. They are going to pull the plug today and are looking to donate his organs. RIP Jeff
