Cat problem !! HELP

My kitty won't stop chewing my wires !! I try and put them away . I foiled the reaalllyy important ones (ex: internet modem) but she won't stop ... Any tricks to stop this ?

I'm pretty sure I bought this from the source once, but any computer place might sell it.

My dumb cat used to do this, so I bought those fuzzy pipe cleaners at a party supply place and it turned out dumb kitty liked those better.

That's a very dangerous thing; it can kill your kitty or start a fire!

Make sure you have other toys out for her!
Make sure you don't have dangling cords as much as possible; try bundle them together.
You can also split an empty paper towel roll, and put that over the cord/s.

How we always get kittens/cats to stop doing crap like this (and works for TP unrolling, scratching furniture, etc.):
Take the kitty back to the offending place, holding her head/nose down to it and give her a gentle but sharp swat on the top of the head, saying NO in a firm voice.
Kitty will run away and be mad at you.
If she does it again, repeat. Twice is usually enough with any cats we've had over the years.

Then if the cat goes back to the offending spot, a NO will often stop that.
Otherwise, I use the 'dreaded kleenex box' which is a weapon in our home - actually the THREAT of it is the weapon - as soon as they hear the sound of me grabbing for the box, they run off.
When we started training them, we'd throw a tissue box just to distract them, not to hit them with, but they've associated that now with a deterrent, so it's good!

Other ideas -
Put orange rind near the cords. Some people suggest a citrus spray, cayenne , or dish soap rubbed on cords when they are unplugged; then plug them in when they are dry.
Cover cords with foil tape or double sided tape.

Thank you these are great tricks. I had done the Cayenne thing and it stopped the problem for a bit but the problem is the wires get all nasty and gummy and everything sticks to them. By foil tape do you mean duct tape ? or there's such a thing as foil tape ? I'll try and swat the offending kitty when she does it (we have 2) but the thing is. I never SEE her do it.. I Wake up.. plug in my phone only to realize it's not charging and the wire is all chewed up. Can i still take her there even if I don't know when she did it ? Funny cause at first she like ONLY my EXPENSIVE wires, mac book wire and iPhone wire. Those were the only two she would chew, now we noticed the WII wire is chewed (still works thank god) and DFs phone wire is chewed.. He wants to send her away if she chews any thing more of his but I can't send her away its DDs cat.. literally. She ONLY sleeps, sits and lets DD play with her, she had her since she was 1.

Yes, still take her there even if you don't see her do it - she's smart, she knew she did something wrong there...

Regular duct tape is cloth, there is a kind you can get which is foil. Or you can just wrap the wires with tinfoil - same effect, but doesn't look nice, I suppose.

And charge your phone elsewhere - my son does his in the kitchen, plugs it into the stove, hides the wires behind the canisters.
Husband charges his in the living room, cats play with it sometimes - thank goodness they don't chew, though.

You are going to be really careful with all these cords, that there aren't exposed places or you could have problems...

How often do we have to do this ? I did it once and at one point the chewing started again.
Did your wires get sticky ?

they can get gross but i just keep an eye for when its starts to dry wipe it off n do it again... only took a few times
