I have career goals, on the 5 year scale right now. I also have personal life goals, from succeeding at hobbies, to family plans, to financial plans. I'm a planner, it's ingrained in my personality. I can direct things to a certain extent, but I am sure most people realize that things change and hiccups always come up, but if I have something taking shape in my head I at least have a starting point.

I can't make plans. if I can't think ahead to the weekend, how would I ever think ahead to the next year (or five)?
i think of plans as a way to make ourselves feel better about the unknown. In 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

I'm big on plans. lol. I always have a 5 year plan. It's not rigid but I do have an idea of where I'd like to see us (our family) in 5 years. I usually plan 5 years at a time and then of course just an overall lifetime type goal.

hmmm plans...let see....
With baby on the way, DH and I are planning to buy a detached house next year. Hopefully we'll have a big down payment from the sale of our current house.
Enjoy my mat leave when baby arrives. DS will be starting JK and I will have alone time with baby (that was the plan )
Hopefully our next house will have a bigger backyard, so I'm planning to plant more veggies.
Over the next 10 years, pay off our mortgage
When we retire, sell our detached house and buy a smaller place with a backyard so I can still plant veggies. Travel a lot, go on a cruise and spoil the grandkids

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Nope.
No plans. I hate making plans. I always just do what I feel is right and end up where I am.
I feel that if it is meant to happen, it will, so I will take life as it comes to me.
This saves me from a lot of disappointment in life and keeps me happyLove like crazy everyday and smile.

Because of my age planning as become more relevant.Getting close to retiring, (ands do I want to retire or start a new career??) there are decisions to make, you change your investment strategies and make decisions regarding the lifestyle we want to have when we stop working. We are planning on changing homes and building a new smaller home which is in our 5 year plan.

I have been thinking of putting my long term plans into motion now or very soon. But yes, I do have plans and keep them flexible enough in case things change.

5 yr plan - Buy a house (probably a condo), finish college, find a better job, travel the world
10 yr plan - pay off mortgage, buy larger house (if in family mode!), continue career (or if I have kids, I would like to be a SAHM)
15 yr plan - go back to work once kids are in higher grades, save money for travel and retirement, save for kids college / university

I don't have specific plans. I don't even know what I'm doing now half the time.
But I believe that the little moment by moment decisions we make now will have a big impact on our future, especially if we do them over again. So I try to fill up my days with good decisions -like eating well, exercising, filling my mind with good things and being with people that have a good influence on me.
