Thread: I did it !

I have the biggest fear of seaweed one can have. Like it's REALLY bad.
I said to myself at the beginning of this summer that I was going to do something to conquer this.
Well here at the cottage we have a bridge that you jump off of into the lake. Also a beach (not near each other.. the bridge is about 10 ft up)
My friends unexpectedly showed up today, my mom asked them to keep me busy since it's exactly 4 yrs today we found out my Dad passed away.
I went with a friend to the bridge, and we watched her kids jump off of it. After much coaxing I agreed to go in. But the only way into that part of the water was to jump off.
People there for their kids were so understanding that I took forever, and weren't pushy at all.
I backed out of jumping if I was standing (heck, 10 ft.. plus me.. 5 ft) so both her and I sat down on the edge and after counting to three we pushed ourselves off. I'm getting goose bumps just thinking of it.. eek !
I panicked under water, and didn't know which way to swim. I am a good swimmer, it's just the fact I was scared if I went down i'd touch weeds. Anyways, I found my way up and got out.
I have a bruise because I was so uptight, and held onto her hand so hard.
and i'm still sore.. I guess being that tense really does do something
BUT we went to the beach after and I planned on sitting and just tanning, but all of a sudden I realize i'm in the water, and having fun !
Sorry.. but this is big ! Thought i'd share it with you all

Congrats on getting over your fears, that's not easy to do. Sounds like you had a great time.

Sorry about your dad, in 2 weeks on Aug 15 its going to be 8 years for my dad and I am always on the count down weeks before. The day of is always kinda an "off" day for me too. I just might have to go find a lake to jump in as well, I stinknin hate weeds and them touching my legs. Glad you had a good day with friends anyways!!

What a nice thing to hear
I hate seaweed too, ugh. Remember, if you're underwater, bubbles go up; if you're stuck in an avalanche, spit goes down.
Glad to hear you had a good day!

I am so glad you were able to overcome the seaweed. I still haven't.
When I was 13, my family went out our boat, and to a nearby beach. We anchored, and had to swim up to the beach. But, when i jumped in the water, i got tangled in the seaweed and nearly drowned. To this day, i cannot touch seaweed, and even when out in the boat. It has even kept me from going in the water when on vacations down south.
I hope someday i can be as brave as you!Join GROUPON for incredible deals, click here

Here's some pictures of the bridge, I don't have any of me jumping because I didn't trust anyone with my camera beside the water
