Thread: Metro Rant

So this is my first rant, ive always had good experiance using coupons but i guess i was due for a bad one.
coupon i was trying to use:
TFT $1.00 off new purina one bag hst included where applicable, one coupon per item purchased
So this is what happend:
Went to Metro yesterday to use some of the purina one TFT coupons so i can get a donation to a local humain society. got everything had 17 bags of the small (so called trial size) bags. found the coupon in the store! went to the cashier and she was very nice but didnt know what to do with the coupon as the product was $0.99 and the coupon was $1. So she asked a cashier next to her (aweful woman) and the other cashier was super rude and said i can only use one per customer. i said no it says one per item purchased. shes like "oh ok i guess". then she noticed it was 1 penny more then the product. i said "you just lower the coupon value to equal the product amount". and she rudly said "no we dont do that you cant use this coupon her". i said well i got it from your store and it has no size restrictions. then she called the manager, who was even ruder. so the manager comes and him and the (mean) cashier were trying to tell me that i have to buy the item thats on the picture. i was in aw of how little they know about coupons. i told them very nicly that you have to read the coupon not look at the picture. so the manager said fine since they have it at the store they will accept it. so i was getting rung up. then the manager comes back with the coupon pad as well as the 2 bags that are on the picture and says the rudest thing i have ever heard "this coupon was under these bags which means that you can only use it for these", then points and the coupon picture and the bags like im a 5 yearold that was trying to steal a candy bar! and tells my cashier(the nice one) not to put any more through. i was so mad i couldnt believe how badly they were treating me like i was trying to steal from them.
i know ive used that coupon previously at a METRO for the same item and was able to get it no problem.
now i was following the coupon rules and the store rules. i just dont understand how someone could be so disrespectful towords a costomer.
not sure what i should do, was thinking of calling the HO but i dont know if i was right and they just didnt know the policy.
what would you do in my place?
any advice would be helpful.
and thanks for reading my rant, had to get it off my chest.

I do believe a call to Head Office is required hear. You do not deserve to be treated that way, it is unexceptable !!

Call HO. The customer may not always be right but the customer is always the customer. Bad service should be reported.

call HO and file a complaint. Hope you got the cashiers and manager names so that you can itemize them specifically. Especially since you said you hadn't had trouble with them in the past. Ask for some sort of store credit, coupon, something for your aggravation and frustration. HO for most companies are pretty good.

I would have looked right at the 'nice' cashier (and in front of the other 2) and asked for her name. Then I would have said that I want to make sure I had her name so I could compliment her performance when I called to complain about the manger and other cashier

You were definitely right. I really don't understand what is so difficult for some people when it comes to coupons... perhaps a problem with reading comprehension? Do they really expect every item the coupon can be used for to be pictured on the coupon itself? Crazy...
Glad you called HO - let us know what happens...

I can see that your still steamed! Calling the HO is absolutely the right thing to do...I would also ask to have an updated copy of their coupon policy....since they always seem to be changing!

Call HO. I am so sorry they gave you such a hard time. Some people should not work in customer service.
