Serhiy Ruchka died of head wounds during heavy mortar shelling in Avdiyivka PromZone on August 16, 2017.

Serhiy was born on August 10, 1981 in Bohuslaw, Kyiv Oblast. He served in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Serhiy leaves behind his wife and a 13-year-old daughter.

OSCE deploys monitors in the embattled village of Stanytsia Luhanska. Most of the city is abandonned due to regular shelling at night. The remaining inhabitants, mostly elderly and those too poor to flee, try to make ends meet and have set up a makeshift market to trade produce.

Meet Dr. Bohdan Kucher, chief surgeon of the Mobile Military Hospital in Volnovakha, Donetsk Oblast, holding the grenade that was lodged in a soldier’s thigh.
On August 7, 2017, 23-year-old soldier Dmytro was seriously wounded during shelling near Novotroyitske when a grenade penetrated his upper thigh, but did not detonate.
Bomb specialists were present during the actual intervention; attending medical personnel were required to wear helmets and bulletproof vests….

Denys Hlova was killed during heavy shelling in Avdiyivka PromZone on August 21, 2017.

Denys was born on July 22, 1989 in Fastiv, Kyiv Oblast. He served as commander of a combat vehicle (BMP) in the 3rd Mechanized Battalion of the 72nd eparate mechanized Brigade. He was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served in Volnavakha Raion. In March 2017, he signed a contract and returned to his brigade.
Denys leaves behind his grieving mother….

Yevhen Popov from Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast passed away in Kyiv Hospital on August 19,2017. He served in the 17th Separate Tank Brigade.

Yevhen was seriously wounded on August 4 during military exercises at Divychky Training Ground. Doctors fought two weeks to save Yevhen’s life.

Happy Independence Day, Ukraine!

Today is Independence Day of Ukraine. The people and government of Ukraine commemorate the day in 1991 when its parliament declared the country independent of the Soviet Union. Today is a day for honoring its heroes who fought and died to secure their long-desired freedom. It is marked with a grand festivity throughout the country.

Military parade on Kyiv's central Khreshchatyk street celebrates 26 years of Ukrainian independence!




Some 4,500 servicemen marched down Kiev’s main thoroughfare, Khreshchatyk, which included more than 230 representatives of NATO and over 1,000 participants from the special operation in Donbass. The country’s top brass and delegations from nine countries - the US, the UK, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Montenegro, Estonia, Turkey and Moldova also attended the parade at Ukraine’s invitation.

Canadian troops have trained some 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers. The federal government has pledged its support to the mission until at least March 2019.


Soldiers from 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (2CMBG) are heading back to Ukraine to train a military under the mission “Operation: Unifier.”
The task force of 200 troops, which includes augmentees from across #Canada, will deploy in September for a seven-month tour on the fifth rotation for Operation Unifier.
