On Mother's Day, an annual march of mothers who lost their children in the war in Donbas was held in Kyiv. Around 300 women - mothers and widows of defenders of Ukraine - walked through the center of the capital of Ukraine, holding portraits of their close ones.

Vasyl Dzus was killed during enemy mortar shelling near Vodyane, Donetsk Oblast on May 16, 2019. Vasyl was born in Ivano-Frankivsk on September 25, 1974. He enlisted in 2018, first serving as ensign with the 114th Tactical Aviation Brigade “Zakhid”, and then with the 79th Air Assault Brigade.Vasyl leaves behind his grieving mother and daughter. Anton Bezverkhniy, nom de guerre “Pitbull”, “Pit”, was killed by a sniper bullet on May 14, 2019 near Novozvanivka, Luhansk Oblast. Anton had vowed to revenge his comrade-in-arms Yana Chervona (nom de guerre "Vidma" (Witch), who was killed in heavy enemy shelling on April 2, 2019, and this he did…

Anton was born on January 24, 1994; lived in Kharkiv. He enlisted in 2018, and served in the 46th Special-Purpose Battalion “Donbas-Ukraine” of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He suffered several contusions and wounds, but always returned to the front lines.

33-year-old Oleksandr Kameniuk was re-buried in his hometown of Poltava on May 17, 2019. After years of searching and numerous DNA tests, Oleksandr’s remains were identified and transferred to his family.
Before the war, Oleksandr Kameniuk worked in the special forces Gryfon of the National Police Force of Ukraine.
On January 20, 2015, Oleksandr was deployed with his unit to Konstantinovka, Donetsk Oblast.On February 18, 2015, during the retreat of the Ukrainian army from Debaltseve, enemy militants began firing at and shelling a bus carrying police officers of the Gryfon unit. Two police officers were wounded. In order to prevent further losses, Captain Oleksandr Kameniuk decided to cover his men’s retreat. 179 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the tragic battle of Debaltseve, 110 were captured and 81 disappeared.
Together with other nameless heroes, Oleksandr Kameniuk was buried at Krasnopilsk Cemetery in Dnipro. In May 2016, extensive DNA testing revealed the remains of Oleksandr Kameniuk.
He leaves behind his grieving parents, wife and daughter.

War kills randomly…Volodymyr Vovk was buried in his hometown on May 14, 2019. He died of a sudden heart attack.Volodymyr was born in Hranky-Kuty, Lviv Oblast on February 18, 1979. Andriy Fedorov died of his wounds in Mechnikov Hospital, Dnipro on May 19, 2019. He was critically wounded in combat near Avdiyivka, Donetsk Oblast.Andriy was born in 1980 in Solone, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. He served in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade.Вічна Пам’ять! 51-year-old Volodymyr Koval was killed in heavy shelling and gunfire near Pavlopil, Donetsk Oblast on May 8, 2019. Volodymyr was born in 1967 in Khmelnytsky. He enlisted in 2015 and served as commander in the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade.Volodymyr leaves behind his grieving wife and daughter, serving in the National Guard of Ukraine. Вічна Пам’ять! Serhiy Kononko comes home…Serhiy Konenko will be laid to rest in his hometown on June 1, 2019.Serhiy was born on August 18, 1982 in Obukhiv, Kyiv Oblast. Member of UNA-UNSO, Head of Pravy Sektor in Obukhiv; served in the 24th Battalion Aidar.On August 26, 2014, Serhiy and his comrades-in-arms were transporting wounded soldier Vasyl Pelysh to hospital when they came under heavy fire near Novosvitlivka-Khriashchuvate, Luhansk Oblast. All the men were captured by enemy terrorists; this story was confirmed by Vasyl Pelysh, who was later released from captivity.
December 23, 2014, the enemy militants handed over 8 body bags to the Ukrainian side, among them 4 Aidar fighters. All the men had been subjected to cruel torture.5 DNA tests were carried out before Serhiy Kononko’s remains were fully identified.
