24-year-old Vitaliy Malozovenko, nom de guerre “Mekhanik”, was killed by a landmine near Pisky, Donetsk Oblast on June 13, 2019.

Vitaliy was born in Tyrlova Balka, Kirovohrad Oblast on June 6, 1995. He served as senior soldier and commander of UAVs in a reconnaissance platoon, 34th Battalion of the 15th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade.

Vitaliy leaves behind his grieving parents, wife and young daughter.

24-year-old Oleksandr Liashok was killed in heavy shelling near Novotryitske, Donetsk Oblast on June 18, 2019.

Oleksandr was from Ternopil Oblast. He served in the 137th Battalion of the 35th Separate Naval Infantry Brigade.

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces Center gains NATO certification



“For the first time in history, a unit from a non-NATO country has been certified as a Special Operations Forces (SOF) unit and has the right to be involved in the NATO Response Force (NRF),” the statement reads.



As noted, the 140th Center for the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces passed the relevant exams in Lithuania.



The NATO Response Force (NRF) was created at NATO summit in Prague in 2002 to replace the Allied Command Europe Mobile Forces.

25-year-old Oleksiy Karlash, nom de guerre “Karlson », passed away in Kharkiv Military Hospital on June 23. Oleksiy was seriously wounded in the war zone on June 19.

Oleksiy was born in Rozkopantsi, Kyiv Oblast on March 30, 1993. He lived in Kyiv. He went to war as a volunteer in 2014, serving in the 54th Separate Reconnaissance Brigade. He enlisted again in December 2018, deployed near Popasna, Luhansk Oblast.

Oleksiy leaves behind his grieving mother and brother.

Massive rallies took place in Kyiv on December 1, 2013, with thousands of protestors occupying or blockading government buildings and demanding the resignation of President Victor Yanukovych, Prime Minister Azarov, and the Cabinet.

Protestors occupied the City Hall and the Trade Unions Building and erected a blockade in front of the Cabinet building. They clashed with police guarding the Presidential Administration building in downtown Kyiv.


Police allowed the rally to proceed peacefully, but when a few thousand protesters tried to storm the nearby Presidential Administration building with a front loader, riot police used tear gas, truncheons and flash grenades to drive them back. Dozens of people with head injuries were taken away by ambulance.

The government of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych responded to these massive protests with a combination of calm and alarm. President Yanukovych barely mentioned the political crisis during a television interview. His only comment: “Any bad peace is better than a good war. Everyone must observe the laws of our state.”

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that the protests had “all the signs of a coup”. The opposition planned to oust Azarov through a no confidence vote in the next parliamentary session.

37-year-old Denys Volochayev and 38-year-old Dmytro Kaplunov were killed by an explosion in the “grey area” of the war zone on December 1, 2019.

An enemy reconnaissance & sabotage group attempted to penetrate the rear positions of the Ukrainian Joint Forces in Donetsk Oblast. A Ukrainian special ops reserve unit was sent out to block possible retreat routes. Two soldiers were killed by a landmine blast.

Denys was born on December 23, 1981; Dmytro - on December 4, 1980. Both soldiers were officers and snipers, working in the special-ops Alfa unit of the SBU.
