About a month ago there was a little boy in our town that found out he was terminally ill. The grandfather is well known in the community and is on the volunteer fire department with my hubby.
We wanted to help out, as a community. WE started fundraising, asking for silent auction donations, beer bottles, yard sale stuff, anything that we could figure we would make money on to help them out. We posted about the day on Facebook and even here on SC, and in the papers.
Well things started coming together and we held the event this past Sunday, and it was AMAZING!!! As a community we all worked hard together, and the support we got was out of this world. I even had one very wonderful SC'er
(who wants to not be revealed) who read about this come forward and volunteer for the day plus brought a $1,000 donation from work. We ended up raising much much more than we ever expected, and all the childrens activities were free, folks got great deals at the yard sale and auction, (even picked up a couple good deals myself), it was just awesome!
My brag is about what a few folks can do when they put there mind to it, and what a great little town I live in can achieve when a member of our community needs the help. Thanks to my posse of gals who listened to me ramble while organizing the whole event, you were a great soundboard for me.

Bless you and all of the helping committee. What a wonderful thing to do for the family of the little boy. I wish him well.

It was alot of us that put hardwork into the day, but it was for something that touched us all so very much. My 5 and 7 year old even had there own lemonade stand there and donated all the money they raised, $52+. They were so cute hollereing to get people to have a drink.
