    Hi Everyone,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I am extremely frustrated and need advice. I was on maternity leave for a year and had raised an HR complaint at work. Since I raised the complaint with my union and my work, my personal email accounts have been hacked and I have been receiving a lot of spoofed calls at home. One of these callers even tried to access my home while I was home alone with the kids. My gmail caught the IP addresses of people that were doing this with their IPAD, and I made a police report. I even gave them the number that made a fraudulant call. However, for some reason the police refuse to investigate this issue. This seems to continue (especially the hacking) and is making me very insecure as I am one of those people that rarely deletes emails/info, so the hacker had access to my personal conversations, my bank info/Social security number/passports etc. and our family's itineraries when we go on vacation.

If the police refuse to investigate, how else can I find out who's doing this? I am 99.9% sure its someone from my work, but how do I prove it? Any help/legal advice would be appreciated on this issue.

    Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear about this. Very scarey. I hope that the police can aid you in this. Maybe even call a computer specialist that is bonded and specializes in these kinds of things. It may cost some $$$ but safety and security is very important.
I wish you all the luck.

Go up the chain of command with the police department.

If they still go nowhere, go to the media.

Thanks Peachy1. A forensic computer person makes the most sense. I have already taken my computer to 2 specialists but all they did was to remove viruses and it ended up costing me as much as a new laptop. TY for the suggestion.

Natalka, I went as far as the PO's supervisor, but they have done nothing yet. They say that they don't feel that there is enough probable cause for a warrant Infact, they made it feel like somehow this is my fault. I truly feel that someone at work is trying to set me up in some way, but have no way of proving it without this hacking evidence. To make things worse, I had perfect evaluations until the HR complaint and somehow they were recently changed. This type of retaliation is scary because I work for a large public board (funded by the government). If this type of shady business happens in a public environment, I can only imagine what happens in the private sector

tjthemonto No, I have access to my emails but someone is still continuously trying to get into them.

This is just crazy - have you contacted your union rep about this?

I just feel so badly for you having to go through all this.

Thanks Natalka. Yes, I started with the union last September, but no help there either. I have even emailed my superintendent to confirm my evaluations and contents of my file, but have received no response (wierd). Something fishy is going on here. I think I need to go to a lawyer to seek advice, but that is a lot of $$$$$$$ OOP

Thought I would ask to see if anyone has gone through anything similar and could provide advice since I have read that IP addresses and caller info are only stored for a short period of time with the phone companies. Does anyone know how long Rogers and Bell store this info????

    Can you elaborate?

If they tried to access your house, I would tell that to the police and tell them I am scared for the well being of my family. Do they say anything to you in the phone calls? This is harassment, but without proof (catching him/her in the act) it's hard to build a case.

I think that it would be advisable to contact your bank and other institutions that you think the hacker might have gotten information for to see what they can do to protect your accounts/identity.

    Hi Janetta,
I contacted my banks in January and gave them a heads up and changed all my cards because I used online banking. So that's done.

Told the police that I am afraid for my family when I filed the police report, but since the last time this happened was in Feb, they weren't concerned. I provided the police a lot of info (IP addresses of the people that accessed my accounts, even snapshots of when that happened, the number that called me and the time they called, snapshots of regular attempts at accessing my personal accounts since, the fact that the company claims that it wasn't them calling me for service (a recording). What else can I provide to build their case? I even gave them authority to check my account with Rogers, and especially the sites my IP address had visited. The police refuse to investigate.....so I guess I am waiting for something to happen before I can appeal their decision not to investigate. What upsets me is that I had so much confidence in our city's police, but after this experience I will never file a police report again

PLease continue to file police reports and make sure you get copies if each and every-one. Having hard paper copies makes it plain that you are serious about this. Having a papertrail means it is so much harder to dismiss your claims if you also have your copied evidence lodged with the police.

I'm not sure why you would have your passport info on your computer to start with? Did you scan it and save it on your computer? Firstly, I would put all your personal info and anything else you wanted to save onto an external hard drive or discs or something. Then I would delete it all off your computer, and make sure you get all of it removed, don't just delete the file off your desktop. Then, as much of a pain in the butt as it is, I would get a new email account and give out that address to whomever you feel you need to. Then, cancel the old email.

It sucks that someone is doing this to you and making your life hell., especially when this should be a joyous time for you. I would also be a pain I the butt at your local police station until they get tired of you and finally do something. I'm so sorry this is happening to you
