I posted another thread that I gave my notice at work and may have to go on medical stress leave because of the abuse and harassment all the employees suffered where I work. In fact we all quit and the boss has to bring in his wife to hold down the fort.
I was wondering though.....how are other people treated at work?
Do most of you

B - don't mind it

I don't mind my job, but it's not something I want to do for the rest of my life either. Sorry you were mistreated at your job. I'd be all over him if I was there to witness the abuse. Not something I would tolerate.

I have always been well treated at any job I've had...I treat everyone with respect and it's what I expect from others. I do not participate in petty office nonsense with fellow employees, nor from any boss. I left a very well-paying job because my boss expected me to treat those who worked with us with the same disrespect and indifference that he treated them with.
To put it succinctly: I EXPECT to well treated.
So should everyone else.Last edited by Lynn49; Sun, Jul 6th, 2014 at 09:25 PM.

Must be nice, Darth.
I love my job, I love what I do. What I hate and what makes it utterly miserable for me are the people that I have to put up with day in and day out. My supervisor is the worst. What keeps me there is the fact that we need the pay and despite it all I still do really like what I do. If I could move to another location with different people doing the same thing (with more hours) then I'd probably be happy. However, I've done the whole drive to another town thing to work and it gets old really fast, so moving locations is not really an option, just a pipe dream.

I enjoy coming in to work everyday. My colleagues are awesome and we get along really well. Most of the managers here are also great to deal with and I am actually good friends with one outside of work. I have recently been given a lot more responsibility and am just awaiting my official promotion.
The only thing I don't enjoy is the commute. It's not horrendously long, distance wise, but can be long, time wise, if there's an accident or like today, it rains.I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

I guess I've been very lucky, or smart - not sure which, or maybe it's a bit of both - because every job I've had I have really liked, as well as the majority of people with whom I worked.
Yes, even the times I've worked 'just for money'.
These include jobs I've had being a receptionist/secretary in an office, working as a newspaper reporter, many other jobs - and especially the variety of positions I've had as a teacher.
As Lynn said, respect is really important - no matter the position. It's about personal integrity for me.

Do you think that the better educated you are, the better you are treated?

i don't think education has anything to do with how a manager/boss treats you.
whether your a cashier or you have a BA in math..your boss can still choose to be a jerk.
its how you deal with him/her that makes a difference.Be Strong
Be True
Be You.
Simple as that!

A few years ago I worked with a friend and it was terrible. She was doing a special project and needed an assistant and did not want a stranger in her home, so I said I would do it. Turned out to be the worst thing in the world. Her and I have very different work ethic, and I ended up doing most of the work that she was suppose to do and it ended up ruining our friendship. Never mix business with pleasure.
Aside from that, I have generally been treated quite well by my previous employers. I give respect and demand it in return and if it is not given, I will leave and find a new position. I will not work for someone who is going to make me miserable.Love like crazy everyday and smile.

I am treated decently at my job, I'm helpful to the people I work with, and also respectful. The only problems I've had were with a supervisor younger than I and less educated. He was the type that expected me to be intimidated by his position (don't you just hate those bullies). He got his come uppance when I told him how frustrating it is to work for someone who can't express themselves clearly.
I'm in customer service, so I do get some awful stuff from customers. Some are so bad I refuse to serve them.

A resounding NO!
When I worked for a large company there were tiers of workers, from cleaners up, and I personally didn't see any difference in how we were treated. Yes, in every workplace there may be a pompous, too-full-of-himself or herself that have so little self confidence that the only way they can feel they're worthwhile is to put other people down. But to make a blanket statement about education equalling better treatment isn't valid. Hon, there are jerks on every rung of the ladder!
Nobody....NOBODY...has the right to put someone else down, and NO ONE has to put up with any abuse in the workplace!
Expect! to be well-treated, and treat others with that same respect. I know it's not always possible to change jobs, as in Jays case, but perhaps a department change, or getting everyone together and lodging a formal complaint might be possible....I hope so, because everyone has value and deserves to be respected.
Take care, and good luck moving forward, Hon....
