Local Target parking lot was half-repaved in Nov/Dec in my area too, sweetsparrow. Could have been a property management deal or maybe there was another reason.
Glad that Target is offering the 16 weeks' pay/benefits because the liquidators will likely be making decisions about staffing/store hours after the liquidators get a sense of what's where and how long each location will get. It won't surprise me if some stores close earlier if stock gets consolidated at major centres to expedite the likelihood of getting more customers in the doors.
If you have cellphone cameras, take your selcas/selfies of yourselves at Target, the best retail shopping experience that is soon to leave us.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

For those of us who have favourite cashiers and a rapport with them, see if you can pass on any job leads that might line up with their interests. Never know if you could be helping someone land a new job. #PayItForward

Starbucks employees losing their jobs are not included in Target's job losses.

While I'm not sad that Target itself is gone, that is a heck of a lot of employees who will be jobless.

I'm going away for 3 weeks on Saturday agh.
I have only today and tomorrow to go to Target and it's a long drive and I have so much to do before I leave.
I was hoping I could spend it when I come back. Anyways, I guess I have to find the time to go...$85 can get me lots of stuff. Would hate it if I'm back and I cannot use it.

Will you honor gift cards?
Target Canada will continue to accept gift cards through the liquidation period. U.S. Target stores have never accepted Target Canada gift cards. That will not change
When will merchandise be marked down?
We expect that the liquidation process will begin in approximately 2-3 weeks, upon Court approval of Target Canada’s plans to hire a liquidation firm.

Now I have to cancel my RedCard credit card. I'm sure not going to make any effort to go into Target USA again if this is how they run a company.
Just remembered I have a gift card to use up, too. Do I use it on expired cereal or the overpriced pharmacy?

The bankrupcy is in the courts now. I guess it depends on how long the court process takes, before the first stores close.
"By the numbers
• Stores to close after liquidation: 133
• Employees affected: 17,600
• Number of days in operation before announcing its closure: Approximately 681
• The year Target says it expected Canadian operations to be profitable: 2021
• Expected pre-tax losses on discontinued operations in 4Q, 2014: Approximately $5.4 billion
• Projected pre-tax losses on discontinued operations in fiscal 2015: Approximately $275 million
• Compensation package: Employee trust worth about $70 million, providing employees a minimum of 16 weeks compensation, including wages and benefits"
