That story is from 10 days ago before the decision was made.

I found the Target/Starbucks employees to be so nice, with great customer service and luved it when they opened a cash register when there was a line up. Walmart? You could grow gray hairs waiting in a l-o-n-g line at the cash register. And only to meet a not so nice cashier at Walmart

Have become friendly with some and will be sad to see them out of a job.
When I had a bad experience at the Oshawa Target (rare bad Target employee), my regular store took the time to listen and show sympathy. When I was about to leave, the Target lady in charge gave me a $5 Target gift card for my trouble. She knew she would make the money back real soon, since I was a regular

There's a few change.org petitions to keep Target open(I can't get my ipad to paste the links). Hoepfully Target will recosider leaving and at least keep some of their high profit stores open.

    That's a nice gesture.
However, the CEO calculated that to be profitable after recent Canadian and US losses, it would take 6 more years in Canada. If they cut their losses now, pay a penalty to the Canadian government, they can regroup and concentrate on their US business and try to become more profitable in a shorter number of years.

    Just my 2 cents worth

DO we get CVS moving into Target stores now?
Use it on cleaning supplies like Tide and Bounce, personal care items and other things that don't expire.

Once a company makes an announcement like this - there is sadly no turning back. It is a US based company - there loyalty is with the US. I wish they would keep some of the profitable stores open. What will happen is these stores will be the last the liquidate. Maybe Giant Tiger might take some locations? Anybody but Walmart please! We have two in our City and they are both annoying stores.

Starbucks was shut up tight at 9pm in my store last night. No tills open, only customer service desk, and the vultures were circling in the aisles. The cs desk didn't even check my coupons, just rang them in as-is and wished me a good night. The store was really busy for a Thursday and families were trooping in as I was leaving.

About Giant Tiger, one newspaper was saying that some landlords where there are currently Target stores, is calling Giant Tiger to see if they are interested in the space that Target has.

Just minutes after Target announced it will close its Canadian stores, the phones began ringing at the Giant Tiger headquarters in Ottawa. Anxious landlords wanted to know if the discount retailer was interested in suddenly available prime locations.

    Giant Tiger’s response? Let’s talk.

“They’re worried about their position and trying to mitigate it as much as possible,” Giant Tiger president and chief operating officer Greg Farrell said Thursday. “It may be an opportunity for us in a number of those locations.”
