The real facts about the Chapters location closing - Chapters lease was up.. someone else came in offering significant more for the space than Chapters was paying. Chapters was given the opportunity to match this - they chose not to.
That someone is not Shoppers, it's Sports Chek.

i do have the real facts i have had confirmation from a long term shoppers employee that they are indeed moving into the chapters location because chapters did not want to sign another long term lease (they wanted a short term but the building owners said no).. i think your error is thinking that i was talking about the vancouver location.. i am not! i am talking about the VICTORIA location (if you notice my location lists me as in victoria)

Sorry! Your post matches what's happening in Vancouver.. 3 story building, etc.

Though I haven't heard anything about the Victoria Chapters on Douglas closing.. I did find this:
"After some speculation about closing its longtime downtown Victoria store, Chapters/Indigo has confirmed it is renewing its lease on Douglas Street and has no immediate plans to vacate its space. That being said next door at least two Shoppers Drug Mart employees have stated that a potential store relocation is being mulled over the medium-term and the store may in fact occupy the Chapters space once it is eventually vacated."

i've found many web stories (especially ones not directly from the TC) less then accurate source... there has not been much posted online about it.. i have a friend who works at that specific shoppers location and when i heard about it i asked her and she confirmed the story with her manager (even said paperwork had been signed) so i take her word as a very reliable source, she is very much looking forward to the move because their current location building has many issues that are just not being fixed...
it does seem to be a common story that chapters stores (and the smaller stores in their chain) seem to be closing.. they seem to be going the way of the video store unfortunately people are now getting their media through different sources or just not reading books at all anymore (sadly)When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Yeah, I think the reference to Black Friday applies more to the crowd they are expecting with people thinking/hoping prices will be crazy.

I dont expect much the first few weeks But wow why do they have so much diapers/Wipes and TP in the charlottetown location.
one row of TP was 2 wide - 8 high and like 20-30 long. if not more. It was way taller then I was. I almost wanted to run into it just to know it down. lol
They have diapers almost the same. and also in like 3 other locations in the store on the shelves. Must be running out of room outback

they talk about all the advertising ... It's a shame they didn't do more canadian advertising in the last two years.. And also I never really found Black Friday the best sales .. They have a couple of items on a good price then everything else regular price. I think this will be a disappointing 2 months for sc'rs

I'm not expecting much by way of crazy discounts, and definitely won't be there on Thursday! Probably a huge crowd of people making annoying comments 😉 The only thing on my wish list is a Britax Pioneer. If it hits 25% I'd be a happy camper.
