Employees were advised in February that their last day of work would be May 16 unless their store closed before that, at which point they would continue to be paid until that date. 16 weeks notice is mandatory for any company letting go of 500 or more employees. They are only doing what is required by law

It's good that everyone will get paid til may 16 but it would be nice to inform the staff at stores about when they close before telling the press... It's just plain common sense... The cashier was annoyed by that and I don't blame her!

Target themselves were not admitting it when the news first broke, so likely someone in the chain of command told the media before they were supposed to

I heard from an employee that Upper James (Hamilton) is closing April 2nd, but don't see it on the list. Not sure if it's true.

I meant to post about Vernon yesterday but am still catching up at work. I was there on Sunday and they had the 9 Days til closing signs up. I also stopped by the Chilliwack store 3 days from closing....in both cases I found the prices much higher than what I have been finding stores that have not hit the list yet. ie. Langley, Kamloops, Kelowna, even Abbotsford.


Every store I have been to in the last 2 weeks....( I am guessing about 9 locations) has lots of clothing and shoes, especially summer stuff) I really should get in the dressing room and get while I can. I have enough bras to last me 5 years now though $5.99 for a bra?? Can't pass that up.

I went three times over the weekend. LOL I did a number on that store and scanned and put away SO many items - cartloads full.
I posted my first shop on the Target Clearance thread and have another to post tonight. The 3rd shop, try as I might there were no happy surprises upon scanning and iI would have left empty handed had I not picked up another Boinairre tower fan for a friend.

I have a feeling Richmond BC won't be closing soon... they have so much new inventory. Boxes and boxes in the empty 'closed off' sections stacked to the ceiling. As well they have unopened boxes of items stacked to the ceiling on top of all the aisles downstairs... so much stuff!
