This is incorrect and misleading information. Are you trying to discourage people from donating? I volunteer at many food banks and homeless shelters in my locality. Their most requested items are: milk, bread, eggs, butter, fresh fruit, yogurt and juice. Yes, that's right. Items that require refrigeration and electricity. They also LOVE receiving fresh meat. So I don't know where you heard this ridiculous notion that they only want non-perishable foods.
They will welcome everything. Things that people donate most often such as pasta, pasta sauce, canned meat, canned soup...these items are not flying off their shelves as fast as you'd like to think.
So I highly encourage everyone to reach out to your local food banks/homeless shelters/charities/etc. If you're not sure what they will and will not take, a simple phone call will sort that. All food banks are different. Sometimes they may temporarily run out of fridge and deep freezer storage space so needs will change from time to time but it's never permanent. Also, some of them have volunteers who will be delighted to come and pick up your donations. Go forth, people....give away!Last edited by salady; Fri, Feb 13th, 2015 at 08:37 AM. Reason: typo

I used to work at a food bank in Toronto and they served daily meals for anyone who stepped through the door. They had large storage and refrigerated areas in the back room for perishables and anyone who stopped to ask. It was a food bank, but they took clothes, toys, laundry detergent, books, and many other items. There's actually a lot of things they will accept and different food banks will take different things - some serve fresh meals and others only distribute non-perishables.
All it takes is one call to confirm if they will accept your donation, so I would encourage people to check before good and safe food is tossed.
Even if you went down to the line of people waiting for food and offered it to them, I'm sure someone will appreciate the offer.
The only restriction I heard of at the main sorting facility was no homemade items (due to the risk of nut/dairy/other food allergies and homemade items have no official labels). I had to throw out a lot of homemade jam with a sad heart. If you know someone who works in the kitchen serving fresh food and they know and trust you, you could offer it to them with your assurance that it was allergen free and they might take it.
It's worth a call and it doesn't hurt to ask.

Good thing is I finally finished all the yogurt ..ha ha ..had most of it for lunch at work . Would literally take the whole tub with me to work & that would be my lunch..he he..nothing more nothing less.
Got some weird looks from co-workers thoughI love smoothies too , but don't feel like drinking them in winter

Well I guess with the Astro Promo plus LUG was the Showstopper on the Shopping Channel the other day and today I got an email that they are debuting new colours in some of their styles, all in all it must be a very busy time at LUG. My daughter ordered a bag last week and I think hers may still be pending as well.

I'm very excited that I was able to order a cranberry red bag last night. Today I had regret that I didn't add the flipper jewelry clutch from the sale section. I just called Lug and the lady added it to my order with no problems (original order still 'pending fulfillment') and there will be no shipping charge because of the Astro promo. I'm so excited! Their customer service is fantastic!

I need to give these guys a call if mine still shows 'pending fulfillment' by next week . I think once its fulfilled its shipped very fast by UPS , usually comes in 1-2 days .
As people who ordered with me & even after me , in the same region & same colour have already received theirs..doesn't look like first come first served.
The colour I ordered was in stock (obviously) when I ordered & is still in stock ( never went out of stock ) , so I don't think stock is the issue ..hmmm
