Hi! Sorry I had to start another thread for this, but finding the "craft" thread isn't as easy for me...so here they are, those of you who asked to see them......the first one is the quilt I made a couple of years ago and which my Sister-in-law just finished hand-quilting for me last fall. It's a summer quilt so I just put it on our bed this month.
The second is the one I just made for our grandson, his "camping quilt"...there's a little story behind it....when he was about 4-5 years old, whenever I'd say, "I love you to the moon and back.", he'd say something like, "I love you to the moon and back, around Jupiter five times, and back again!", to which I'd reply, "I love you to the moon and back, around Jupiter five times, around every single planet, and back again!"...okay, you get the drift...we kept adding planets and solar systems and black holes onto our lovings and it was always so much fun. So anyway, I wanted to make him a quilt to reflect that, and although it was hard to find quilt fabric with moons on it or planets (in our neck of the woods, anyway!), I did finally find the one I used in this quilt and to make the moons stand out a bit, I circled them with metallic stitching. I embroidered the sentiment, "I love you to the moon and back...Baba xxx" on white fabric on the back of it.
I'm no expert, so don't look too closely...they're good from far, but far from good!!!
Sorry they're so big...I'm no expert at posting photos either, I guess...

oh Lynn!! You are way too modest, that quilt for your sweet Grandson is perfect! ( loved the story behind the Moon and back ).
This is a heartfelt forever memory piece he can snuggle with at night and one day who knows? he may pass this onto his own child?? The other one is beautiful too, love the colours.

Thank you, Walks..it's difficult to see, but in the really light blue and grey ones, there are gears, and in others, tiny little spacemen......I really intend to make him a "grown up man" quilt one day, (love the Civil War prints in denims) but yes...in case things don't turn out the way we all intend them to...this may be all he has from my more crafty years...He may not appreciate it now, but one day, perhaps. He's such a loving little guy....oh, cute story: when they were on the island at camp, before she broke her foot, they went to a trade fair in Little Current and she found the handmade soap shop people there. The soaps were $5 each, or 3 for $15...so she lined up 3 that she liked, and along came our Grandson who asked if he could pick one out, she said sure, so he did....then he picked another one out and said, "Mom, we have to get his for Baba, she loves lilacs!", so she said that was it...she ended up with one bar of soap for herself for $15! LOL!!! And my soap he formally presented to me is lovely!!

Lynn, what a lovely story behind your grandson's quilt, he will cherish it forever. Love the blue and white as well, my favorite "bedroom" colours!
