This guy disgusts me. I wonder about the turnabout he had, from reporting on elected jerks, to becoming one himself. I guess he felt entitled, as so many in trusted positions do...read: politicians.
I didn't realize there were 37 counts against him, including bribery; what a tangled web he wove....toss out the key to his cell, IMHO, of course...This thread is currently associated with: Guess

Yes, totally interested in it - and all the investigations into spending of Senators, and hopefully MPs, too.
My first cousin is a senator - not on any list to be investigated. (yet? Hopefully not, he's fighting cancer right now)
"Duffy pleaded not guilty to 30 charges of fraud and breach of trust, and one count of bribery."
Of the former, there are 15 charges, then each of those has an additional charge of breach of trust - they are paired.

Either nothing will change OR he brings down everyone with him. Imagine all the dirt he has on people from being a reporter for all those years on the Hill.
I have a feeling this will lead right up to Harper's door. In the long run I would like to see the senate be abolished but it would be a hella mess trying to do that. I don't think it will happen but what will come of this is they will now know people are watching their every move.
Oh and 50 senators appointed since Harper has been in , damn.

What you said, Patty, for sure: the dirt he has on everyone is probably the reason he was given that 90k in the first place! Apparently he took copious notes, a throwback from his reporting days..well, that paid off for a while but I have a feeling the big bad wolf is finally toppling his house (either one) down. I hope! What an self entitled a$$!
Like you, I hope that whole house topples down, but like you, I'm not naive enough to think that'll happen; at least not in our time. Can you imagine the savings to this county??!!
Next on the chopping block is little Pamela, who likely played the same game: "you can't touch me, nya-nya-nya-nya-na-na!!" Oh, I hope they touch her but good!!!
But first of course, is to remove the stench of duffy out of the house!

Thanks, gryphon, last I heard he's doing relatively well.
His name for sure will be coming up and probably will be called to testify about Senate spending rules - he was the chair of the committee which oversaw the auditing leading to the suspensions of Duffy, Wallin, and Brazeau. He resigned as chair when he got his diagnosis.
