I had to go into university today to get some stuff from the bookstore and a group was talking to students who were there for whatever reason. The group was one of these atheist groups and I got into a long argument with them. They were handing out a piece of paper with "facts" on them, and it was full of BS. They claimed that Christianity took the crucifixtion from 18 other religions including the norse religion, and I dont know if they took it from others but with the Norse, the only surviving norse legends we have come from christian sources. The myths have been changed as such. Odin getting crucified could easily have been taken from christianity. They also claimed that Judaism was comepeltley taken from Atenism, despite the fact that aside from Monotheism, they have nothing else in common. Atenism, from what we know, was very different from Judaism. It seemed like they just looked at Christianity, Judaism and Islam, looked at any other or older religions for similarities and assumed that Christianity, Judaism, and Islam took everything from other religions. They were so self righteous and full of themselves. In the end I left because the book store was closing soon and they tried to act like they won the argument.

I didnt mean to sound self righteous and pompus, it was just that they were using faulty arguments. When they said that the crucifixion was from 18 other religions they only named the norse, which most scholars concluded was influenced to an immesne degree by christian scholars. Not trying to sound pompous but just going through their arguments and pointing out flaws.
