We’ve probably all heard the complaint that Daylight Saving Time is an outmoded practice, leftover from an age when Americans spent their mornings working in the fields, not fighting traffic. But that’s not true—farmers have traditionally been opponents of Daylight Saving Time (DST), and “spring forward, fall back” actually began as a wartime energy conservation measure. The perception that DST saves energy by synchronizing human activity and available daylight hours is often cited as one of its main benefits. During the California Energy Crisis in the early 2000s, the state even requested federal approval to move to a year-round DST. But does fiddling with every clock in your house twice a year really save energy?

I wish we could just keep the clocks forward all year round. I hate how it gets dark at 4:30 in the winter time and I like the late sunsets in the summer time.

You're probably not bi-polar roseofblack25, (which means you're manic/depressive). You're probably suffering from SAD - Seasonal Affected Disorder. Try getting a sun lamp, which you sit under for a few hours a day while you're reading or watching tv. It makes a world of difference for those who suffer.

same, I find the dark mornings just make me feel down for the day, in the evening its no different than being out later in my mind, but I don't want to drag my butt to work in the dark

I found I suffered less here in Canada than I did ik the UK. The weather tends to be sunnier in the winter here than it does back there.

I think the whole business is a PITA. Everyone talks about getting an extra hour - where? My day is still 24 hours, just like it was on Friday. And my internal clock still gets me up, I was simply up at 5 this morning instead of six.

Sure, it's bright out in the morning now. But in a month, it will be back to morning darkness. A whole lotta trouble for very little benefit.

And can you tell it makes me crabby?

There's actually a mental disorder for that I've been told I get it year round except for summer (which is funny, because Summer makes me crabbier the winter)

I like when it gets dark early in the winter, it makes me THINK it's winter. Going out with my timmy's, christmas shopping in the dark. I LOVE it.

I saw on the news this weekend that DST actually does nothing to save on your energy bill. I don't notice the difference at all. Just that it gets dark earlier! Which of course means you have to turn your lights on earlier, which is hard to do when you are on a SMART METER that charges you MORE for your electricity!!!!

So where exactly is my savings in all of this??? Not to mention having to reset every single clock in the house all the time!!!!

I say, keep it the same all year.... it makes no difference at all IMO
    Is it baseball season yet?

I'm not sure how daylight savings time even works...I know they say it synchronizes human activity with available daylight hours....but does it? 'Cause in the winter I get up in the dark and by 4 or 4:30 pm, it's dark again. If I didn't change the clock back in November, how would it affect this? Not a rhetorical question, I'm actually asking lol

If we didn't have DST, it wouldn't be the Fall/Winter schedule that would be effected. In the summer the sun would rise an hour earlier (when most people aren't even awake) and set and hour earlier, which would effect evening activities.

This is a kind of funny video that explains what it's true intent was. It kind of gives an amusing pros and cons list but never actually makes it to that many pros. . .
