Hailey still missing, Amber Alert continues.

RCMP have arrested a 22-year-old man in the disappearance of 2-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette.

“That person’s been arrested in association with both the homicide and disappearance of Hailey,” said Supt. Tony Hamori at an afternoon press conference.
The man has not yet been charged and his name will not be released at this time.

“We have located a white van that we believe is associated to the investigation in the area however it’s too soon to know if it’s exact van we’re looking for,” said Hamori. “The Amber Alert is still in effect with respect to locating this white van and we are looking forward to information from public with regards to the investigation, whether has to do with the homicide aspect, the van or the disappearance of Hailey.”

RIP Little Angel - what a terrible tragedy.

EDMONTON — RCMP victims services confirmed at a public vigil in Blairmore Tuesday night the remains of two-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette have been found.

Sources tell Global News the girl’s remains were found close to the town of Blairmore where she went missing.

There was just a news conference where the RCMP announced this; there will be another tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. where they will give more information on the investigation.

Hopefully stories like this will sound as a waking call to those parents that put their own personal / selfish interests before that of their kids during separation and break ups. The breakdown of a marriage should not be used as a way of getting back at your once partner by making up all sorts of crap stories / allegations in order to gain sole custody. Additionally, alienation is never good for a child and they just grow up hating you once the tru story comes out.

Finally...you are never going to be able to replace the other parent, by having a new partner if you deny the child access to their biological parent.

Just heard the mother in a scrum with reporters, she was not dating the alleged murderer, they just hung around with others years before. She did not know that he and her daughter's dad even knew one another.

Man charged with first-degree murder in deaths of Blairmore toddler and her father


Derek James Saretzky, 22, of Blairmore, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 27-year-old Terry Blanchette and two-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette. He also faces a charge of indignity to a body in relation to Hailey’s death.

Saretzky was arrested Tuesday and remains in police custody.

He is expected to appear in Lethbridge court at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 23.

(Hailey’s mother, Cheyenne Dunbar) She said she remained on good terms with Blanchette even after the couple split.

As for Saretzky, she said she hadn’t spoken to him for years and didn’t even know he and Blanchette knew each other. She said she never dated Saretzky and the two were only friends, calling him “a great kid.”

Sounds like this could have been a love triangle gone wrong. Mother claims to know the guy arrested and now charged.

Wild guess....could it be he wanted her to himself, and decided to kill not only the bio father, but the child as well so he can have the mother to himself? It has happened before, and we've seen girlfriends kill wives in order to have the man to themselves. Examples

The accused was supposed to appear in court today, but instead was rushed to hospital after an apparent suicide attempt. Some reports says he's in a medically-induced coma.
