Thread: Neighbore's rotting apples
-
Fri, Sep 25th, 2015, 09:33 AM #1
My neighbors planted apple and pear trees right on our shared "line '0'" and now there is a mountain of rotting fruit building on both our properties. I pick up all the fruit I can and put it in the recycle bin, but they don't. I really resent this. IT STINKS, BRINGS WASPS and looks awful. We can't communicate with them because they don't speak our language. Anyone have any ideas on how I can manage this? I did try to talk to them about this in the beginning, but they just said that in their country, everybody has trees.

Thanks for your suggestion, lecale.
They are nice people; I just wish we could understand each other, so we could resolve this. The Tower of Babel-Apple is growing in my backyard.

Check your bylaws-you probably can trim back branches overhanging your side of the property line. Also property standards bylaw. Any chance that someone else in your 'hood knows what language your neighbours speak?
But I understand the rotting apple smell as some neighbourhoods around the local university in Hamilton have fallen apples on sidewalks from properties that are student rentals (as I walked through the surveys today)-I guess that is how apple vinegar came to be ...2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I have this issue myself but I didn't plant the tree it was here when I moved in. I felt so bad because all of the apples fell on the neighbors side and the deer that normally come to eat them up, never showed like they do every summer. Not sure why.
Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.
