Years ago, I was given an opportunity to work in another country (timing didn't work for me, so I never did get to go). It was made very clear to me that if anything went wrong, it was up to the company and not Canada to get me out of the country. It was also one of the reasons the salary was considerably higher than it was at home.

This strikes me as another example of the "meh, why worry, the govt will bail me out" attitudes that seem so prevalent today (as opposed to the dark ages when I was young ).

Same with morons who want to ride their motorbikes with no helmet on. I'll say get people and their family to start signing waivers. If they have an accident and become a veggie, they are on their own, and taxpayers won't cover the costs. No good running to the Govt to come help out when you make a decision that didn't involve the Govt.
