We have been buying treats for years. But by the time we get home all the kids are gone home. I will probably just make up a few small treat bags this year. I don't dress up unless I am going to a theme party. Halloween is not really a big deal in my house. We like to stay home, watch some old horror movies and eat food that we should consider scary.

Patty, I saw the video - NICE!!!!
We get about 100-150 kids, depending on the weather. Gonna spend some time either tomorrow night or Friday and make my treat bags (chips, chocolate, candy, gum - about $1.00 per bag), but its a job the kids and I enjoy. (someones gotta taste test the goodies, after all )The average dog
is nicer
than the average person.

When the kids are older I like to bug them.
Kids - Trick or treat.
Me - Trick.
Kids - *look of confusion*
Then I generally ask for a joke.
Happened to me so it stuck.
As for costumes , I generally make myself a glam cat (if you will)
Lipstick. Fake eyelashes. A drawn on cat nose and cat ears headband. That's about as festive as I get

To be honest, I hate the whole thing lol. I'm so glad the kids are old enough to go to the door by themselves and I can just sit in the car and watch... slight anxiety issues lol. I do enjoy helping them get dressed up though, and I enjoyed it as a kid. There have been a few years I've worn my pj's and said it was my costume hahaha
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur... happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr

My kids go out for about an hour. It usually takes that long just to do our block (little legs walk slow). A block's worth of candy is more than enough for them.
Then we let the kids stay up a bit late and help hand out candy. They enjoy seeing all the costumes and giving candy to their friends from the neighborhood.
I usually try to find some kind of unique candy just to add variety. This year I bought a bunch of treats in the US. Some of the favs are caramel apple laffy taffy, orange kit kat bars, Skeleton/bone shaped sweet tarts, Frozen themed suckers, Mickey/Minnie themed cheesies.

I used to fully decorate the outside - trees, door, windows, etc. and inside - but not anymore.
We moved two years ago to a really quiet neighbourhood, and last year there were maybe a dozen kids. At the former place, we would get around 100 most times.
Giving out the treat-sized chocolate bars only this year - so, a handful for each kid.
I love to see them at the door - but I end up only doing a few, because it's too rough for my knees to keep getting up. Good thing my husband likes kiddies, too - and he's great with them, talks with them the way I do about their costumes, etc. - so he doesn't mind giving out the treats.
I used to dress up, too, to hand them out - Candini and me could have been twins - but I don't do that any longer, either.
Hmmm, sounds like I've gotten old... gah!

We don't get kids coming round. Brats usually get dressed up (anything for a treat!). I'm more excited about day after Halloween half-price candy sales (I stock up for treats for the next few months).
Here are my guys this year.
I think Quincy cat is still annoyed with me cause of that one year he dressed as a princess and the neighbour doggy teased him.
