Abdelhamid Abaaoud, suspected Paris attacks ringleader, was killed in raid
Paris prosecutor says mutilated body found in St-Denis was formally identified from skin samples
Abaaoud, who was thought to have been in in Syria since 2014 but is known to have returned to Europe on at least one occasion since, was one of two people killed in a ferocious firefight with police at a terrorist hideout north of Paris on Wednesday.
The French interior minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, said Abaaoud played a “decisive role” in the Paris attacks and had been involved in four of six terror plots that French intelligence services had foiled this year.

We have home grown terrorist of a different kind...lets deport them all
The heads of the most powerful criminal organizations in Montreal were rounded up Thursday as part of a drug trafficking investigation that has shaken up the city’s underworld and uncovered an incredible murder plot.
Leonardo Rizzuto, 46, and his longtime friend Stefano Sollecito, 48, were described as being the new heads of the Mafia in Montreal after more than 200 police officers made 48 arrests as part of two investigations — Projects Magot and Mastiff — that were joined together and revealed the Mafia, the Hells Angels and the city’s major street gangs were working in concert to control drug trafficking in the city.

A couple of interesting articles:
The female terrorist that blew herself up in St. Denis was like many of the others a drinker and had a history of selling drugs.
Her brother, Youssouf Aitboulahcen, said she had no interest in religion and started wearing a veil only a month ago.
“She spent her time criticizing everything,” he said. “She was living in her own world. I never saw her open the Qur’an. She was permanently on her phone, looking at Facebook or WhatsApp.

Drugs not religion seem to be a rather strong motivator for ISIS. They are powering their fighters with highly addictive amphetamines:
A powerful amphetamine tablet based on the original synthetic drug known as “fenethylline,” Captagon quickly produces a euphoric intensity in users, allowing Syria’s fighters to stay up for days, killing with a numb, reckless abandon.
“You can’t sleep or even close your eyes, forget about it,” said a Lebanese user, one of three who appeared on camera without their names for a BBC Arabic documentary that aired in September. “And whatever you take to stop it, nothing can stop it.”
“I felt like I own the world high,” another user said. “Like I have power nobody has. A really nice feeling.”
“There was no fear anymore after I took Captagon,” a third man added.

Paris attacks: UN backs 'all necessary measures' against IS
The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a resolution to "redouble" action against Islamic State, following last week's deadly attacks in Paris.
The French-drafted document urges UN members to "take all necessary measures" in the fight against IS.
The UN resolution 2249 also condemns recent attacks in Sousse, Tunisia, and Ankara, Turkey.
