It must have been hard for him to quit being a truck driver. I went on the patch which helped.

I quit when I was trying to get pregnant, quit for 10 years. Then went though a seperation and started again.

I am now smoke free, it is day 7.

Good for you! The first three weeks is so so hard. I was just a ranting and raving nightmare when I quit

I did the survey on the Ontario smoke free website or something like that and got 5 weeks of patches for free. They don't work on me though! I would kill for a smoke, but I promissed myself I would quit and picked a date, so I am going to try to stick with it. Still using the patches, maybe they will kick in soon? LOL

A couple of thoughts since this is the debate section so I get to say what I want!

#1 -I appreciate how insanely hard it must be to quit smoking and I applaud anyone who has managed to do this. I have never smoked.

#2 - I have always wondered if smokers know how disgusting it is for a non smoker to leave a building and walk thru a cloud of smoke of people who are smoking outside the door? Has this occurred to anyone who smokes or do you just not care? I am not being sarcastic, I just have always wondered this. If I could leave thru another door, I would but usually can't.

#3 - I am a dental hygienist and I always think if smokers could see their mouths thru MY eyes, they would definitely quit because smoking not only stains your teeth it creates very scary looking tissue in the mouth. So everyone who has quit out there- your mouths are 1 million times healthier! Watching someone's mouth change back to health after they have quit smoking is nothing short of AMAZING.

    just my 2cents...

I keep a respectful distance away from doors if I'm smoking in public. I keep to designated smoking sections if I'm in a situation like at the hospital or at a hall for a wedding. But I'm outside not inside so for the most part I do not care how gross it is to a non smoker if they walk past.

In your situation however... people smoking right outside the door. That imo shouldn't be allowed.

I have to admit, I am still a smoker. Not that I want to be, but I know until I make that full choice to quit, I will stay smoking.

One other small point, I made alot of money over the years working in tobacco. From May till Christmas alot of people in the area I live in supported families working in it. Not saying it is right, but an income is an income, and with tobacco the way it is now, you should see all the welfare in the area.
