Aw Holly, that is so sad, I'm surprised they are washing their hands of your case since you are obviously a loyal customer to them. Are they still going to investigate at least to find out who did this? I truely hope they do not get off without any consequences. I will be using a new card from now on
and I won't be trading points at all. I wish there was a way to gift them to people without needing their card number. So many people helped me get a suprise redemption together for my friend. It was such a great feeling and I would hate for that sort of thing to compromise someone who was just being generous.

It's a shame that SDM wasn't able at least to reinstate the points that were not transferred points. To lose everything because of some trading is pretty harsh without a warning.

There is just one thing I dont understand at all. This has happened before. From what I can see, last year around the same time. Why is SC still allowing people to trade with the points? Especially, if the company is stating in their policy that people are not to trade and give personal info to anyone other than their family. If there are rules to be followed why are we breaking them here? I understand that mods cant help with this other than blocking people that have stolen the points if they find out who they are, but mods are still going to be the ones asked all these questions and are going to be looked up for help when really they cant help anyone with this because it has nothing to do with SC. They will refer people to the policy of SDM. So, in my opinion, we should not allow anyone to publicly trade on here for SDM points and if someone does it and breaks the rules well, than its their own fault for not following the rules of SDM and of the forum. I think it all just makes sense to ban it completely, especially because the company also doesnt allow it. We have here other rules that we have to follow and when it comes to couponing we follow same rules, coupons has to be valid and not photoshopped, we also cant save the PDF file to the computer and use the coupon once the company has taken it off the web site, etc. And I am fine with rules, because they benefit me at the end. So, its just one of these things I dont understand here.

I have to agree as well, I don't think trading SDM points should be allowed. Especially not after this

if someone where to take the points from someones account..did anyone receive an email? usually when you transfer sdm points..you get an email saying you transferred it to someone's account and number.. if that didn't happen then it must be something at head office? jmho

Wow! I've never given out my SDM number and don't have too many points on the card. I don't go out of my way to collect them (prefer Airmiles) and after this, I really won't go out of my way to shop there. I usually pm at LD and use a coupon or two. This is a horrible mess and I'll just stay away from Shoppers. I feel very bad for everyone.

what i've been thinking about is, if the points were in fact "stolen" from the cards...and shoppers has no intention of finding out who stole them (based on a flimsy excuse), what's to stop the thief from doing it again and again. I mean obviously now they know they can get away with it and shoppers has no intention (from what we can tell) of pursuing it.

Holly, I'm so sorry to hear of your outcome and now definite loss of the points. I can just imagine the hurt you feel especially in light of your current situation and your plans for those redemptions. I can only offer hugs and prayers that you'll find some peace about this...and enjoy Christmas regardless. I know it's still hard though...hugs!
That's my one issue with the responses too...SDM is enforcing TOS which is their right as it's their program...but with no indication that the investigation is continuing there's a strong chance this will occur again. At least that's the impression we're left with. Adds a bit of insult to injury in a way (IMHO). Again, so sorry for those affected.
