Personally I gave it the boot 8 years ago and don't miss it. I got tired of hearing about what people ate for lunch.... don't give a $h*t.

Sadly, these days I can't really get rid of it even though I hate social media. Need it mostly for group projects in university as it is the easiest way to talk to each other.

I got the booth when I joined SC couponing group on Facebook . I am not sure what was the comment I made and my account was shut down that was the best thing for me lol

No because I have many familly and friends on Facebook,I can see samples and coupons faster and I am on couponning french groups.

I got rid of it the day they asked for ID so I could log in to my fake account. I only used it for coupons, etc. Personally, I hate it and think it's a huge waste of time.

I enjoy facebook.. I don't have any info on there that they can't find in a phone book or through internet directories etc.. When I wanted to direct market in the old days I could go to the library and get lists of people who were certain ages etc etc.. I don't see this being any different. The problem isn't so much that they target people , its that people buy into it. Anyone with half a brain could see how Mr Trump would be as a president. He showed exactly who he is and hasn't altered that in any way. He is a case of "you can judge this book by it's cover" Anyone concerned about their data can alter their info a bit, change your birthday up, your location etc

I deactivated my account almost 12 years ago now...
I don't need to, nor do I have the time to read about/like/comment on trivial $h!t people only post because they want others' 'approval' for doing or saying.

I'm going to stop myself there before I go on a full out rant/b!tch session about the issue.

I hate it. I have deactivated mine few weeks ago. But, I would also like to find out how to completely delete it!!!

I'm this-close to deleting it. I already deleted ALL the apps connected to it, some I know I signed into...Pinterest, cooking apps, all gone. Honestly, I rarely go there except for some notices I get from friends. Our DD deleted hers years ago and doesn't miss it one bit. The friends I have on there have my email, phone number, I didn't use my real name because I couldn't care less about former schoolmates, friends I left behind...if I did, we'd be in contact. My present time is too precious for mucking about in the past.
So yes, it will soon be gone, as soon as I have a few minutes to tell my friends that I'm leaving.

I agree with you on the approval seeking. Most say they want to connect and socialize but really they are attention seeking with the endless posts about their "perfect" lives, jobs, kids, sandwiches, etc...for other people's approval or it's the opposite and they want sympathy for how crappy their life is compared to other people. Either to be envied or treated like Martyrs. Alas, what drama!
