A Disapointing Month!

Well, as you all know I am back on the wagon! Well, at the begining of the month I was out doing my coupon hunting routine. I go to several stores and I just look around looking for coupons! I know it sounds like a waste of time but I have TONS of time so it saves money and provides free entertainment LOL!

Anyway, I was so excited to be out couponing again so I was just off in my own little world and then an older man comes up behind me and snarls so I moved out of his way since I thought that was the problem...well apparently it wasn't! He says...you couponers need to stay out of the way of people that are really shopping and goes on about how he's the one keeping the store in business and I am the reason that he has to pay higher prices. Either way I was shocked since I didn't even have any items that I DID have coupons for because I am just trying to start up again!

Then was a few days ago...I was walking around Sobeys looking around for coupons since I said I would teach a couple ladies how to coupon as best as I could since we all need to save money where we can right? Anyway, I'm behind a woman who litteraly grabs the entire pad off the wall...even the little display of $3 off tylenol coupons! Either way, I didn't say anything...Im too shy for that! I'm walking around again and she grabs the entire pad again of cold sore meds (the name escapes me right now) again I say nothing. Then I see the teenager that was with her and she walked up to a coupon display and preaty much yells at her mother (I'm guessing) do we need coupons for asprin (the mail in rebate ones) and the lady has the goulionies to say "Ya, if I don't use them...I'll just sell them!"

I've just about had enough...I don't even know if I want to show people how to coupon since it's just getting embarassing! I clip coupons so I can make it month to month and if I am lucky make donations to others that are in a worse boat than me! I'm just so frustrated! Then to have people put me in a category like the "ones on tv".

Does anyone else get this?? I am very happy to teach my friends to coupon. I am delighted to go for coffee with people and show them what can save them a little cash! But does anyone else sometimes feel a little embarassed of what the crazy media attraction has done to us honest-law abiding couponers that are simply trying to save a penny wherever we can??

Shut the front door - That is crazy we have that problem out here in the west And I just can't believe it - Some people have alot of nerve! And to be so out there with it yelling it across the store wow - I would've said something that's outragous.

My four year old helps me look for coupons in the stores but not to take full tearpads.

excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor, the man wow how rude, I too am shy and would not have said anything to him but holy, and the woman selling coupons that is the reason why the man at the other store has to pay higher prices, not people using coupons for survival

my daughter and her friend both 7 yrs old, come with me on "coupon walks" i teach them only to take one coupon each....pretty bad to see adults so grossly abuse a privilege

I would have told the man off! No one deserves to be treated like that.

The woman would have totally annoyed me but I would have let it go. Not worth arguing over a bunch of coupons but those kind of people seriously P me off!

I can't even explain how frustrating couponing has gotten for me. I used to love it but now I find it hard to find everyday coupons because the stores are always completely bare. I'm a pretty serious trader and I've NEVER taken more than 10 coupons. If I find that people are asking for them, then I go back looking for them again. Never would I take the entire pad! And to sell? WOW! I guess you do what you have to do but those people are seriously making couponing harder for everyone else.

Maybe that's why I NEVER find coupon pads around here. I don't think they even ever go on display! Probably the sales staff are selling them off. Why not? Just another part-time job for them.
And I see the Plum flyer or SmartSource maybe a few times a year....with what I know now about our mail persons here, I suspect very few make it out to the public.

I do the same thing with "coupon walks".

There are lots of coupon stealers here too which is weird because I have the advantage of Double Coupon Day once a week and I rarely see any people other than a few of us SCer's using them. Not sure what they are doing with them!!

I was buying two bags of dog food not that long ago at RCSS. I had two coupons. Some jerkface gets behinds me and says to the cashier.."Is this going to take long? I f*cking hate extreme couponers!!"

He was so rude. I just turned to him and said,,"Well, I hate a**holes. We'll call it even."

I was using TWO coupons!! For a total of 6.50. She didn't even need to call for the over 10.00 override!!

i'm sorry but for the sake of the rest of barrie couponers, is there a reason why nothing was said?!? At the very least going to ask for the manager and having them deal with the situation!? Its getting way more ridiculous around here to find coupons and now I see why!

I'm sorry to see this seems to be a problem with more than just Barrie! I really wish there wasn't the few that will now ruin it for all of us and I hate to say it but every time I see an eppisode of EC I just want to cry cause I know that is the partial reason for the greedy people out there! It's not the whole reason, we have to be responsible for ourselves but still!!

tear pad stealers have been around long before EC came into effect. There has always been someone who goes around barrie stealing the tear pads (one day they are out, the next day the whole pad is gone). I always said, if I find out who they are (or better yet catch them in the act), then I will make sure I confront them on it.

Wish I could have been there to talk to that man. Prices go up because of higher gas prices when the trucks transport items to the supermarket. Prices also go up when people steal from supermarkets. Not the coupons, but valuable items that are pricy in the stores.

we're having similar coupon stealing problems in my small community.

so much so that some Store Managers are investigating options as to what they can do about what they perceive as theft.

Apparently there are 2 women in town who teach couponing classes and sell coupons at them. I have been scouring stores that i normally found coupons and have mostly come up empty as they just clear off the tear pads. Even SDM isn't putting out the beauty and personal care products coupons. And Safeway won't put out the $0.75 off catelli coupons as they know they'll be gone in a heartbeat. it sucks

I was just saying to my DH he other day that if someone took 10 coupons off a tearpad that would give a person plenty to get deals and even trade, and that would leave tons still on the tear pad. As always, it only takes a few to ruin it for everyone

This is terrible. I know people used to do this stuff before the Extreme Couponing show, but it seems ever more prevalent since the show started. I always say the few who go to extremes and do stuff they aren't supposed to end up ruining it for everyone.

I'm thinking stores might have to switch to those machines that distribute coupons only one a time. It won't totally prevent this, as I'm sure some will still be willing to stand there and wait until they have a ton of coupons, but it may deter a lot....then again, they may decide it's not worth the cost to the store and stop distributing coupons all together...

I wonder what is done in the States to prevent these situations? I know they have way more coupons available there and less strict rules, they must have this same type of problem?
