We shared a hug and laughed about our kids over wine!

This is what we did for VDay,
Had 2 for 1 Blizzards at DQ's, spent $30 @ the Dollar Store, and ended it off @ the Liquor store.

After reading all the posts, it got me to thinking, if Valentines day is just another day (or a Hallmark created holiday, as my DH refers to it), why is Mothers day or Fathers day so special? Just as we say our partners shouldnt need a day to tell/show us how much they love us, why do we need a day to tell our parents we love them, or our kids to show us how much they love us?
Personally, I like valentines day, I love the kids excitement when they do their valentines for school, and I admit I love getting flowers on valentines day (but freely admit my DH buys me flowers at random times during the year). And I admit I would be hurt if my kids didnt give me a card or make me breakfast on the morning of Mothers Day.
As much as I try to shrug off valentines day as just a hallmark holiday, I would be hurt if my DH treated it like another day, just as I would be so very hurt if my kids did the same at Mothers day. Its nice to have a day to just show you appreciate and love your sweetheart, just like we have mothers and fathers day to show love and appreciation to our parents (and if you have children, to be shown that you are loved and appreciated).

We had a lovely Valentines day. We went out to see a movie and dinner afterwards. I know that doesn't sound very exciting, but it's the first movie we've been out to see in over a year, and dinner's out don't happen that often either. So it was special. I love my husband.
