I did 2 trains yrs ago one was great and the other was bad
so now I don't do any
. I use to meet up with a couple of people and trade but they r not here anymore
so I may need to find a new set of people to meet and trade with
I also just gave people coupons when they sent me a stamp .(so I could mail them back the coupons)..do people still do that??

I'm not sure if people still do that; I think that it might be just a handful of people if that.
I have stopped trading on here completely because of the last train I rode; it was such a bad experience. I RAOK'd a bunch of pins tonight so I could throw them out as I have no use for them, and now even coupons I would never use don't even get cut out, they all go right to the garbage instead of being traded.

Too bad some people have had bad experiences.
99% of the VWTs I have rode in the last few months have been wonderful.

OK, Sally is on holidays, so, possibly this question is for Amber then...I traded with a newbie, her trading rating is 5, we agreed for a trade, I sent my addy, ...and that's it. No GC, no stamps, no communication (I asked her to send her part first, it was OK with her). A week ago she sent me PM, that she actually never received my PM with address, and if I didn't mind we could start it over. OK,...once again address is sent, confirmed, and...that's it again. She's not on-line anymore, definitely, I got nothing. I understand, I lost nothing, but should I warn other SC members? Can I leave negative/neutral feedback?

Perhaps with Sally away it might be good for someone to run the 'suspicious train' situation by AmberLab. My idea would be to post a thread in the train section warning riders that when they join a train whose conductor has a rating of "0" they are taking a very significant risk. Those of us who have been around SC for a while are pretty quick to notice when something seems fishy but newbies are easy prey.

Make sure that you pm Sally, even if she is away on holidays. She will get back to you when she returns. I have been burned badly 3 times on SC. Two of these people are on the blacklist now. It does not get you the coupons back, but maybe something can still be worked out if you get some help with the issue.

I understand completely that there are some conductors who have high ratings who have not come through for people. I think, though, that someone who is posting trains within the first week or days of joining poses a much higher risk. There is bickering going on in at least one of these train threads and it seems to me that it would be better to post a warning than to let the threads take on a very negative life of their own. I know we always ride at our own risk, however in the somewhat unique circumstances surrounding this situation a warning would at least allow people to make an informed decision.(And it can be a friendly warning.) I don't think it is unreasonable to expect conductors to earn at least a small trade rating before they begin posting trains. I agree with ErinsMom on that note.Last edited by DianneS; Sat, Feb 25th, 2012 at 12:57 AM.

Sometimes they don't even get a negative rating....which makes it even more misleading for everyone else. And...what's with changing a negative to a positive??? If the trade deserved a negative to begin with, and they finally made good a few months later, how is this then a positive trade??? Thanks for the vent!!

Clarification......You sent her your address and have got nothing so far. Did you mail anything in trade to her?
PM me, I may miss your response.

On the "suspicious trains" - From what I can tell the four members in question are four separate people. As the old saying goes, innocent until proven guilty. While so many of us have been burned by scammers, I am also very hesitant to paint all newbies with that brush. Until I receive more information that changes my opinion, please treat all newbies like any other member, with respect.
