October 2022 Frugal Chatter: All about Fall and Halloween!!!

Did first book club meeting at library. Small turnout but it was fun. Enjoyed the book "the Night Visitors". Had some returns to do at Canadian Tire and than Giant Tiger. Found some really nice tropical plants for $2.97, coffee on sale, and socks at Giant Tiger. Ordered a jacket but not sure if I will keep it, as it isn't very warm for a windy day.

Not sure at this point if I should laugh or cry.

I am on day 4 of trying to get this rental car situation sorted out.

Sunday I get an invoice showing I dropped the car off at the airport, um nope, still have the car. I call there call center and was told someone would call me Monday between 12 & 1 and would fix everything.

Monday, no phone call and I can admit it the day got away from me and before I knew it, it was 5:30 and no call and the local location is closed.

Tuesday, I call the local location,
Rental Place: "Yes, Yes, I can confirm the car was dropped off at the airport on Sunday."
Me: "NO, NO it was not, I still have the car,"
Rental Place: "Oh well there is nothing I can do because your reservation is closed, you will need to speak to a manager."
Me: "Ok, can I speak to a manager?"
Rental Place: "No, they are not in the office, I will forward your file to them and they will call you this afternoon."

Well needless to say it is now Wednesday morning and still no phone call.

I feel like I am more concerned I still have their car then they are. But, me being the rule following person I am, I am now afraid to drive the car because according to their records I don't have the car. So like yesterday when I needed to pickup a package I took Mom's car.

I partially feel like I should just return the car because this is ridiculous but at the same time, I still do not know when my car is coming back.

I have already cancelled all of branch days this week just to be safe but yeah, this is insane. All I can do is laugh at this point.

@SassyAshley What a runaround you are contending with! Any chance there's a Facebook or Instagram account for the rental firm and post a message asking for manager or the location?

Mom is so uninterested in the toy and book ideas I printed off yesterday. Moving on...
Got 4:30pm call and one around 7:40pm (robocall for a mayoral candidate) yesterday. Then two more calls that hung up a few minutes later. Things are scared of answering machines? Glad I did not pick up.

Did a search of Nexcare site and yes, the soft & stretch tape is not showing on the webpage. I must have lucked out in the past three months with this tape as I bought the last rolls and am about to run out today (have the firm clear tape but ouch...). Will have to make self walk to stores and scope out tape options and some groceries. Not Walmart anymore due to lack of cover along most of route. Waiting for lunchtime, prior to expected rain/precipitation.

Had a load of laundry run and going to make my morning chai latte and sneak a snooze on the sofa. Too bad my mattress does not elevate at the head-it's become apparent I need some elevation as lying down flat with head on pillow is not helping the breathing. I did try old pillow on top of the curved pillow and my neck gets pinched after a few minutes.

Do I ever wish to mall crawl for an hour for a change of scenery. Can dream a little of past trips this year.

Good Morning. The sun is shining but we are expecting rain today.

I received a phone call this morning that someone I grew up with passed away last night. So sad for her children and family. It makes me want to tap out and just enjoy the little things today but unfortunately I can't.<br>

Just need to get this work day over with. I need to get on the treadmill and go for a walk in the neighbourhood this evening.<br>

Dinner will be BLSL chicken breast on the bbq with asparagus and a sweet potato/veggie mixture. Will make lots so I have leftovers for my lunch tomorrow.

I will make a homemade mac and cheese today too for the kids. It's simple to make and I can do so while working at home which is nice.<

Morning -i did a load of laundry and cleaned out my main bathroom drawers -well only one of them so far ,thru out stuff expired and using up small packets of stuff.

A good friend has called me to go out for lunch today -girls day out .Got my old navy stevie leggings on with a tunic type top ,ready to go curled my hair a bit (straight layered shoulder length hair here)Used a lot of hairspray ,even that has gone up in price ,so next time i may try the walmart brand hairspray.

Call your insurance company adjuster. See what they advise you to do, as they are paying for this rental, and you are insured under them if anything should happen.

Did you call the head office of the car rental?

No the coat was only $35. I'm returning it as I wore it last night, and I could feel cold air coming through the zipper. Usually coats would have an overlap to cover that area, but this coat does not. Hopefully I will have better luck with Old Navy.

Hi -i just went out with a girlfriend for lunch to a lovely italian place by my house ,so good we had half a margerita pizza and a side salad (included).She kept saying we are celebrating this ladies birthday -which is true i couldnt celebrate on my birthday week due to having covid .So the waiter brought a small dish of decadent chocolate ice cream .

While i was out hubby decided to look one more time at dishwasher and he fixed the part we thought was stripped .saved 129.00 service call for thursday ,plus saved on my hydro from not having the dishwasher work for a month .lol We feel it was a plumbing problem(clogged maybe) on our end ,not the dishwasher .

Changed up dinner plan. Too chilly to BBQ. So cut up the chicken in chunks and cooking it up like that. With rice and asparagus. (asparagus is in the air fryer)
Have some open sauces in the fridge for the chicken. Better then plain old chicken but better for me then pizza

I really want to go to FB for raspberries but I am feeling lazy. We have lots of bananas to use up so probably better if I don't go. Fresh blueberries are on sale tomorrow so I will get some fresh stuff into me

Thinking it is time to start posting online. I am always hesitant to take that step as I want to give the company a chance to fix the situation but this is ridiculous.

I called again this afternoon, I was on the phone for over half an hour with a CSR typing up everything I said and said it was sent to a manager and someone would call me within an hour. This was at 1:30, I got no phone call today. I am seriously wondering if my file keeps getting sent to the same manager, which would be the manager of my local rental location because she needed to postal code of where I picked the car up and if that manager just is not dealing with it.

Now they are saying I may have to return the car and ask insurance to submit a new rental request. Um, no, I am done, you have closed my reservation, as far as I know, I have no coverage to drive this car so I am not driving it back. I am just done.

I know none of this is my fault but it is causing me such stress and anxiety, I physically feel sick and 100% know it is from the anxiety of dealing with this. I realize this probably sounds insane but I think it is just the the icing on the cake of everything that has happened. Between the accident, trying to keep my work schedule, acting like nothing is wrong, making long road trips for work, I just can't.

Oh sassy i hope this resolves itself for you with the car.I have had anxiety and i am now reading books on it to help me ,i feel my anxiety is out of fear (for my small grandkids)

On a different note, I was so spun and ugh that this afternoon I had to walk away and do something to keep myself busy.

I went down the basement and started to tidying the Stockpile room. It is not completely done as I did want to move all he bins but everything that has a home on a shelf has been put away. Then I processed 3 bags of potatoes, anyone with marks are in a small box to be used first first the rest are in my potato box and on the shelves. I meant to go back down and deal with the bins but it did not happen, maybe tomorrow.

The I went upstairs and started emptying all of the bags that needed to go in the bathroom. Turns out I had 3 bags, I thought there were only 2 bags, opps. Looks like we stocked on most vitamins and over the counter meds, the only thing we will need is more allergy pills, we just opened our last bottle. Everything has been opened, taken out of the packaging and laid out so now I just need to get in the closet but first I need to clean out the closet.

Can you tell when my anxiety is high I cannot focus and jump all over the place. So I got a lot of stuff started but nothing finished. Oh well there is always tomorrow.
