Truck is loaded and the all the laundry done. Thankfully older son lives at home so he takes care of the house and his grandfather when we are away. I baked a few treats and froze them as he is great cook but does not do much baking. I will be back in a month anyway for a short visit. But I am happy to get back to NS to see my brother and SIL.

Good Morning Everyone,
I know I said I was not leaving the house the weekend, but, well, I went out this morning.
The main reason I am not driving Mom's car is because her AC is not working, but when I woke up, it was only 4 degrees, and by the time I had breakfast, we were up to 8 degrees so I decided to take the car for a driver because I had not driven the car yet this week. I was going to take it to work on Thursday but then I saw the high was 20 and said nope.
Since I was out driving I decided to go to Dollarama since we needed Toilet Tabs, Febreze and Bleach Spray. I also grabbed Toothpicks, some of those No Name Swiffer duster cloths and Mom said she needed envelopes.
As I was driving by I saw there was no one in the cash wash and I don't know why but going to the car wash intimidates me. I have never taken a car to the carwash since I started driving but on impulse I said okay let's do this because there tree gunk all over Mom's car. So I just got the basic wash and it was okay, I think the issue is I needed to wipe the car down after I got out of the car washer where this tree stuff was but instead I vacuumed the car. We had a reusable bad that was disintegrating on the back seat so I got the all cleaned up. Then I found an old towel so I started wiping down the outside and was able to get about 80% of the tree stuff off. I think if I had done it right away I would have gotten most of it off. So I will have to take her though again, another day.
Came home and put that towel in to soak as it is not going in my washer. Then took a shower because I just felt gross.
Now I should start prepping but I don't feel like it so we will see where the day takes me.

Saved $$$ today by not shopping. Dh and I had a miserable night last night with another visit from the fire department and then the ambulance. Unfortunately there is a large number of older people here and they have a laundry list of problems so these guys are here frequently and of course they’re parked outside our bedroom window (we’re on the top floor) but still the lights and diesel engine running tends to wake a person up and keep them up
.
So since it was a rough night we had a very relaxing day so far and too out the pupper for another walk and spent over 3 hrs with her. Definitely made us smile.
We're headed to get some fuel in a bit. Apparently it’s 175.9 so we’d better hurry. Also saving $ as Dh and will be washing the car downstairs since it’s going to be sunny for a while here.
Hope everyone has a great day

Good Evening Everyone,
As much as I wanted to sit on my behind and do nothing, let's be honest, if I don't do it now, it won't get done once the work week comes and chaos starts.
I put away all the Dollarama stuff. I really am trying to get better about doing it and not letting it pile up.
I should have mopped the kitchen floor but was realistic, it wasn't happening so even though the floor eat Swiffer wet cloths, it was better than nothing.
Put away the panty stuff except the onions, will do those tomorrow and then I plan to Swiffer wet the floor down there.
Then I emptied the fridge and wiped it down and found everything we need to use up.
Then I started to work on prep, I did not get any cooking done but the produce is done, we had cucumbers, carrots, peppers, lettuce and celery that has all been washed, some cut up but the rest packaged in the fridge for later use.
Now that spring is here I want all the salad and bowl. Think going forward I am going to keep a salad add-ins container in the fridge and try to make a new dressing each week.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Happy Monday!
Waking up in a hotel room today. Had a free room that expired end of April so decided to use it since I wanted to pick up free gift (cooking pot) today or tomorrow so made a night of it. Thinking about going in the pool this morning and do laps but I smelt like chlorine even after a shower last time!
Planning on stopping at Zehrs on way home to grab a few sale items I wanted when I stopped there yesterday on the way here.
Will also fill up the gas tank since gas it cheaper here by .15 cents a L then at home.
Passed my step goal yesterday (I always do here!) so need to keep at it this week! Already walked this morning around the hotel and will go do a few more rounds this morning.
Have a great day!Last edited by Frugalbigmama; Mon, Apr 27th, 2026 at 09:21 AM.

Good Morning Everyone,
UGH, I do not know what it was last night, I was super tired but could not fall asleep. Nothing worse than starting off a week with a bad night of sleep, but at the same time what are you going to do, the week doesn't stop.
Up and doing all the things. I have a project I need to tackle to but it is going to be time consuming so I keep putting off starting it. I am just afraid I will be eyeball high in it and get pulled into something else.
I have our regular laundry going, if I have time I will also wash the microfiber cloths.
That never ending question has popped up again, "What's for Dinner." I have no idea.
I also need to grab some groceries, but not sure when that will happen.
Looks like my car should be going in this week yay!!!! (my oil life is at 3% so I am trying not to drive it).
Mom threw a wrench in my plans for her car, which I discussed with her previously but it wasn't until I asked her to see if they could take her car this week that she told me she already took it to the local place when the AC first stopped working and they couldn't fix it. So I guess the dealership is my only option now, but also I back burner her car when I found out my car is going in this week. I just can't juggle both cars in one week so maybe next week I can take hers. I am just worried I will drop her car off and be stuck at work with no car and need to drop off or pick up my car.
Ok, we are going to dive into this work project and try to knock it out.

Good morning ladies......Congrats on the way you make use of a free hotel stay overnight @Frugalbigmama . Talk about feeling pampered at no cost! @SassyAshley do I ever hear the angst with the juggling of both vehicles in your care. This morning since DH is off work we had him take our jalopy in
to see wtf that darn squealing noise was. I was hoping alternator or something cheapest to repair. Of course it wasn't and now the vehicle will be there
all day to fix 2 main things. As they're describing the issues to me over the phone all I hear are Charlie Brown voices, then the estimate to repair.

On the What's for dinner question I pulled a tray of large honey garlic sausages from the freezer. The potato/sausage casserole I'll make from them
will help use up plenty of the open bag of spuds under the sink. We had JUST bought a 2nd 10 lb. bag of yellow flesh from NF for $1.97....so the other
spuds gotta move soon! I hate to miss out on cheap spuds.

Just had breakfast earlier then usual because I was starving I also didn't have my late night snack last night so that is probably why
Feel like I ate too much but really I didn't- I had an egg white omelette with mushrooms/onions/spinach with a big bowl of fruit/berries
Ordered steak and eggs to go so I will have my steak for dinner with sweet potato and green beans. My eggs and home fries will be up for grabs with the other dinner choices
Now going to the pool to do some laps and work off this breakfast

@walkonby , I feel the same way when it comes to cars. I think cars freak me out so much because I do not understand them and all the moving parts and to me they are just complicated. It is one of those things that when something is wrong it just bothers me, plus there is always that factor of something you think is so simple and then they give you price and well, let me pick myself up off the floor.

All the best to your Dad and his recovery-it is very common now to operate on folks in their 70's and beyond so I am sure he will recover well. My husband is 73 and having his second hip replacement in July. We expect smooth sailing like when he had the first done 5 years ago. I am not worried having been through it once already-and I don't think he is either. Definitely a stressful time though.
