-onion

this marinade is good for all sorts of meat, poultry or fish but especially good for pork and beef. perfect for pork, beef souvlaki or shashlik.

Combine generous amounts of salt&pepper and rub it on meet. Mix meet with onion cut in rings. Marinade overnight or longer.

Bon appetite!

Yeah, you're right, this isn't a marinade because you marinate something in a marinade. I think they should have called this a dry rub. Even still, how can they refer to this as a recipe?

I married an american from New York and there's LOTS we don't have here that they have, vice versa! He kept talking about Canadian Bacon and I had NO idea what he meant! I finally found out what it was the other day when McDonald's was advertising a ham breakfast sandwich with a thick round piece of ham! THAT is Canadian bacon, apparently!!!!

Sorry, but nope it's not ham. What is referred to when talking about Canadian Bacon is Peameal Bacon (or back bacon).

NSangel - when I won the SheKnows contest last year, it took about 4 months to actually receive the points. Oh, and it IS the person that did the voting that gets the points. For having an entry, I will get 1,000 points and that's it. Everyone else will get the points for all the votes and comments they did.
So long story short, whenever there is a contest, we all need to vote and comment every day, even if there is no one from this board that entered. It's one of the best ways to rack up points quickly, even if it takes a few months to actually get the points.

and to answer the american cheese question, it is nothing like cheddar. It has a smooth milk like taste. It is good on sandwiches and burgers.

I am so gald I have breakfast, all this talk of food......I could go for more.

When the kids and I went to Newfoundland last summer when came across Pineapple pop (not bad, would be good with rum), roast chicken and gravey chips, now they where yummy, and a few other things that I can't remember. One thing thay I thought was different was that you could buy chocolate milk as 2%, 1% or .5%. We only have 1% here in Ottawa.

In the States we have bought banana flavoured and strawberry flavoured milk.

I remember going to the states as a kid and having to ask for hot tea or you would get iced tea. They would look at you strange if you asked for vinager for your fries.

I still don't get grits, how can they eat it?? My mom would pour syrup on it and say it almost taste like cream of wheat.

Yes smb Newfoundland has all kinds of good stuff that we don't have. And yes pineapple pop is really good - it is great with Coconut Rum - tastes like Pina Colada or even pineapple juice great with Coconut Rum and the pineapple pop tastes just like the Pineapple Coolers in the liquor store - they go down so easy.

I can't stand grits. To me, that's just not food. Something else that is big here in the South is chocolate gravy. Somehow, I just can't wrap my mind around the combination of chocolate and biscuits first thing in the morning.
Another thing we have here in the States is flavored mixes for milk. smb127 mentioned banana and strawberry milk, but where I live they have flavored powder for your milk in cotton candy, blue raspberry, and orange flavors. My kids love it, but I can't bring myself to even try it.

I would love to try cotton candy and blue raspberry milk!!. What grocery store can you buy it in? I don't live far from Massena and might make a nice drive one of these weekends.
