Story here
The question startled MacLeod, now a bylaw enforcement officer in Peel Region. He had a personal policy of not sharing his password, no matter the circumstances. So when the request came, MacLeod offered to log in to his Facebook account and then leave the room so the interviewer could browse his page.
But he says the interviewer remained firm — he wanted the password. After a few minutes, MacLeod gave it to him.
“I was surprised. I was shocked they would ask that,” MacLeod says of the 2009 interview. “I felt like I was being pressured into doing it. It felt like if I didn’t do it, he would call the recruiter and say, ‘This guy’s not interested in the job.’”
As employers seek to know more about job candidates, some of them are asking interviewees for access to their Facebook accounts, a practice that’s gaining popularity, outpacing legislation, and raising ethical questions. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

i have absolutely no problem with it - i don't have a real fb account.. lol..
but in this person's case, i don't agree with it - it's a total invasion of privacy! fb doesn't have anything to do with the ability to get the job done right.. the employer has no right to ask for any password for anything

Mr Penguin is the same.He says he was enough distractions within his life without adding another.
for myself I have a FB account in my name for family and friends, one in my name for all my different forum friends and one not in my name for coupons and stuff .
If I had to have one for an interview* I'd make another dummy acct.
* the link in the OP was about an interviewer asking for the access.

Absolutely NOT! Do I have anything to hide? Nope, but it's not the point. If they want to do a criminal background check on me go for it but that just crosses the line and is a major invasion of privacy.

i would never give them my password.. passwords are private, BUT i do not have an issue with them poking around my facebook (looking at my posts, at my pictures, what groups i'm part of) if it would give them a better sense of who i am why not? i have nothing to hide.. personally i think people need to pay more attention to what they put out in the cyber world (images, what they say and/or write) it doesn't mean that you cant have a private life BUT it's not private when you post it online (just take a look at youtube and how quickly things can go viral)

i have nothing to hide but would never give them my pass as there are bank, credit, whatever attatched...stupid for an employer to ask in my opinion...quivalent of holding a gun and asking for bank pin...
