Sly or Clever? Honest or Dishonest? Not sure. But I'm wondering if you really just posted to get justification on something you knew wasn't really legit. Good for you in getting so many but only you will really know if your heart was racing as you went through cash hoping they wouldn't catch this.

I'm not judging you either way. I'm pretty sure you aren't the first one to do this and I'm sure you won't be the last.

so upon re-reading OP original post, i realized she was talking about the coupons excluding trial size... i doubt canadian tire had trial size ones for sale, so i dont think she did anything vastly wrong PMing at walmart. sure they were prob different sizes, but it would be up to the cashier to make that call. i doubt they would get in trouble for it anyway.

my 0.02: i think that was both clever and sly!

[clever]: stores know they can't possibly price match 100% correctly 100% of the time, but have made a calculated risk decision that profit from customers being in their stores vs their competitors and picking up other things they wouldn't have otherwise picked up will outweigh loss to price matching errors. you don't have an obligation to behave in a way stores have projected their customers will behave. In fact, your prerogative (save money, especially as a couponer) is directly opposed to Wal-mart's (max profit). So clever of you to exploit the price matching loophole (no size spec.), way to go!

[sly]: There is no self-checkout. You need to go through an actual human being. You need to knowingly lie/misrepresent the CT flyer and the price/size of the product in it, and hope that the cashier is ignorant and/or apathetic and will put your transaction through.

There is nothing wrong with ethical debate and people stating opinions. It allows everyone willing to read to consider and adjust their own couponing barometer. Smart Canucks is a place to be positive and learn from one another and this is the brag section. Perhaps it is the place to brag, but not the place to ask opinion? I enjoyed reading everyone's opinions.

For what it is worth, I have price-matched milk (using SDM which says "on select-varieties" in the flyer). Homo milk is more expensive and thus would not be a "select variety." I usually buy a bag of homo and skim and say I would like to price match the "skim milk" please and more often then not, without me asking, the cashier will do the homo milk too. I often feel bad when this happens because I know the homo should not be price-matched, but I have been clear in my intentions and I don't feel it is worth the extra breath and hassle to say something. I know this is different than intentionally trying to get the homo milk at a better price. My point being, sometimes there are grey areas and we have to choose for ourselves when we have crossed the line.
