People suck! I wish ppl would realize if its not yours DON"T TOUCH!
Sorry this happened, I wouldn't take it personal, like others have said its probably kids/teens who have nothing better to do and thought it was all fun.

Bravery. And a fierce desire to protect. That is what a man should be. You are lucky to have him (and he's lucky to have you).

My wife found out who did it. I'm relieved, it was just little kids. About 7 years old or so. A neighbor, well he doesn't live that close, but he walks his black lab this way (beautiful dog), saw the kids but thought they were ours. So no adult with a grudge, not teens hopped up on goofballs, just little ones being stupid. That's so much better than someone actually having something against us. The same two boys were in our driveway earlier today and we told them to stsy away and we knew what they had done. Guess I'll have to talk to the parents later. Not fun, no parents like to hear their kids are destroying property.

It's good to know who did it, and I hope their parents handle it properly with them.

so sorry re your ordeal Dave but glad to see this update re finding out who did it. now, hopefully, they'll learn a life lesson about respecting property and hopefully their parents are kind to you when you go see them too. awkward but necessary. all the best to you, your family, the car and the apple trees...hope they end up thriving.

Dave - what a mess to have to clean up and poor trees! And poor dw and dkids! Don't always expect that parents will believe you - they may just support their kids. At 7 they'd be in grade 2 ish. It may be an idea to speak to your local school principal and (without saying who was involved) maybe ask if they can reinforce "being a good citizen" before the summer with their students. If they hear the same story at home, in the neighbourhood AND at school they might get the message and understand it was very unacceptable to treat people and their possessions this way.

Im glad you found out who was responsible for this. I second Avon's idea about going to the little vandals schools and speaking with the principal; this can serve as a learning experience and a warning to those 2 and other kids who are thinking of "having fun" by messing up other peoples property. Maybe the principal can bring in a police officer to chat with the class about the seriousness of this crime.

I hope that knowing it was just some misguided kids gives your dw some reassurance. We've had our home broken into, I know how that can affect you and how it affects kids (my kids used to have trouble going to sleep, worrying about "what if" someone breaks in when theyre asleep). I hope she and your dkids can get that feeling of security back.

I had my car keyed last year while at a church conference. They did over $1500 worth of damage just to my vehicle. They also keyed three other vehicles in the same lot. A couple streets over they broke into about 4 vehicles throwing all the contents about the street and opening trunk, engine hood doors etc draining the batteries. Police never did anything. Couldn't even report it until four days later as there wasn't enough police on duty to take a report

Dave, just so sad for what happened to you. I am in shock that the culprits are kids that young!! I would think they would still be relativity innocent at 7 yrs old, but I am clinging to another era I guess, kids grow up so very fast these days. Good luck with communicating with the parents, seems you will need it.

Both boys parents were fine. I mean they were surprised and not happy their boys had done that, but they knew that we're sincere, and that we're not angry since the kids are so young. They said they'd talk with them, and I don't believe we'll have a problem again. As I said earlier, I'm relieved it wasn't malicious, just little ones being dum-dums.

Thank you, all of you, for your support. ((hugs))
