We (teachers) do teach substance use, addictions and related behaviors in the health curriculum.
I teach grade 3. Here is an example from the curriculum:

Student can "demonstrate an understanding of different types of legal and illegal substance abuse (e.g.,dependency on nicotine in cigarettes or caffeine in coffee, energy drinks, and colas, or sugar and saltin sports drinks, or alcohol in beer, wine, and spirits) and the impacts of abusing these substanceson themselves and others (e.g., dependencies or addictions, financial stresses, legal issues, healthissues, environmental issues)."

That being said, I drink coffee in class because I'm an adult and I drink it in moderation.

I would just like to point out that ThatGuy's only posts are on this thread and seem a little,...fishy to me, especially with a join date of today...

In regard to ice caps for kids, I don't drink them myself, and although I don't have kids, I would like to say I'd be inclined not to give them, but who knows what'll actually happen in real life and not hypothesizing.

Alicia, it was another member that decided to make a fake account. I have banned the fake account, and know exactly who they are. Jenny has been banned for a day because of her constant need to cause drama.

I just don't understand why a person with a WL full of processed garbage is pointing nasty vile fueled fingers at a parent for giving their child an iced cap!?

Its a pot meet kettle kind of thing I think. I get real tired of the drama for no reason.

Lucky was simply pointing out the rediculousness of your Ï'm near perfect" human/parent perspective. To tote that you never feed anything preprocessed, then to have a lot of sugary foods in your WL, just makes any comment you've made about being holier then thou obsolete.
You are more then allowed to have your own opinion, and feel free to share it with like minded people. But when you start talking about hating peoples choices, wanting to inflict violence on them (slapping them....I can't remember if it was you or one of your followers who said this), forcing parents to follow your food choices, or even removing children from loving parents homes b/c they choose to to follow your ideals (once again, may not have been you who said this, but one of your followers), then you are no better then a radical religious group/communism/voilent demonstraing group, etc.

So I will reiterate what I had said before. The next time you feel it is your right to judge another parents choices, say it to their face and don't hide behind the internet. Maybe then you'll learn that you have no business intruding on the private lives and choices of other parents and families. Just smile and nod, or even scowl if you wish....but no one wants to hear about how you are better then everyone else and that everyone wants to be like you.....because I can assure you, that NO ONE is better then everyone else, ESPECIALLY parents. Watch and see....one day when your child(ren) are grown then will likely say, "I will NEVER be like my mom/dad/parents. We NEVER got to eat or drink anyting sweet like our friends did. We NEVER got to have popsicles or freezies like our friends did. We NEVER got to freeze koolaid into ice cubes. We NEVER got to have slurpees or candy. We NEVER got to run outside when we heard the ice cream trunk or bike ride, and get to spend the money in our pockets on a sweet treat." I remember those moments above and beyond anything else my parents ever fed or gave me. THOSE are the food memories I want my children to share with their friends or their own children when they sit down with them and think back.

Actually threads are only supposed to be locked in extreme cases, removed when very very extreme. I have expired the post. No reason to be mad, I had to use the little girls room then move it.

Ditto! I remember collecting koolaid points and everything!!

We could discuss what a travesty it is that for parents up north it's cheaper to put Tang or koolaid in their kid's bottles then it is to put milk in it!
