I saw a commercial for the MagicMesh (www.magicmesh.ca) -- it's basically a mesh screen you put up and leave your door open, you can easily walk through it, the magnets holding the two pieces of mesh together open easily, and once you pass, they close up again. It keeps the bugs out, and lets people and pets get in and out easily.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has seen this or a similar item in stores in the montreal area. I would love to have this, but don't want to wait the 6 or so weeks to get it by mail. I love leaving my door open so the cats can play on the balcony, but the freaken flies come into the house and drive me crazy.

    Thanks!

OKay, that's so coool. I saw in a CT flyer some type of screen you can put on any sized door and thought "We need that!" But it was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally expensive. This is awesome.

Have you checked maybe at Rossy? I find they often have in their stores those TV offers.

Well, I just placed my order on their website for 2 sets of them. One is for me, the other is a gift for a friend who is moving to a hot country for a few months.

Hopefully it'll arrive before she leaves.

I'll let you know if it is any good.

i have friends who have this item and it works great...magnets are really strong and their little toy poodle can go in and out with no problem, as the screen closes really well and quickly behind him...we were looking for it as well so when i looked online, i found it at places like canadian tire (24.99), bed bath and beyond, pet smart (12.99) and more...just look up "magic mesh store locator")

Thanks anitareles. I ordered mine at the end of July last year, and it arrived in time for fall. I ended up only using it this year. I find it is very poor quality. It took forever for my cats to figure out how to use it. They of course decided to rip holes in it with their nails so they could go in and out of the balcony. When a strong wind blows, the magnets come apart, and since my door is metal, they stick to the metal and the mesh curtain stays open, allowing bugs into the house. If I am not going to be going in and out, I end up having to keep the magic mesh secured closed with some clothes pins. Also, they don't provide enough velcro tape, I feel I could use a few more pieces of it to keep the edges attached to my door frame.

All in all, it is a major rip off. But now that I know the ins and outs of it, I will try to make my own next year.

I bought a knock off version at Zellers(Home Sense). What a pain. My son and his friends are all quite tall and their heads would keep pulling it down along the top of the door. The cats couldn't figure out how to come through so would borrow under it like rabbits. Then magnets started falling off of it.

Reno depot on St-Jacques has it in display so you can try it.

One of my rules is I don't order ANYTHING from TV, usually end up crappy stuff. I, for some odd reason, enjoy watching infomercials...
