Thread: My Walmart Makes Me Feel Like I'm Stealing

    This would normally be a rag for me but by the end of it I felt like I was stealing and just wanted to leave the store.
    Today I was at Walmart and found a deal on Aveeno Baby Moisture with bonus Aveen Naturals for $1.00 each. I had 3 of the coupons for save $3.00 wub2 so each pair made me $1.00. When I went to the cash the cashier and manager acted like I somehow fixed the price myself in their computers. Here is how the conversation went:
    Cashier: "These are only a dollar so she can't use the coupon"
    Manager: "These are only a dollar?!"
    Me: "yes"
    Manager: "where did you get them?" "I think there is an error" "these can't be a dollar"
    Me: "I checked the scanner and that's what they came up as"
    Manager: "Well where exactly did you get them?"
    Me: "over there with the other Aveeno products"
    Manager: "Are you sure?"
    Me: "yes:"
    Manager: "hmmm"
    Cashier: "But that means she gets money back! That's not allowed"
    Manager: "yes it is"
    I wish my Walmart would train the cashiers better and try not to treat customers like we are stealing when we use coupons! I was in the only cash that was open...the 1 - 12 items...and I had like 20. Tons of people behind me waiting and instead of the manager jumping on cash she treated me like a thief.

    i am sorry you had a bad experience. I really don't care anymore, so when i go to WM i go prepared to encounter one of those cashiers that will read your coupons for 5 min, then move to the next exact same coupon and spend another 5 min reading again. Or to those that do not know how to enter your coupons and have to call manager and manager has to call someone else.

    Good deals you got there eve...i wish i could fin them at my WM

    they need to train their staff better on their own coupon policies. don't let this bad experience stop you from using coupons.

    I'm sorry you felt that way. I doubt if that was the managers intend, but she should take a refresher coarse in customer service. We all deserve to be treated with respect as we are paying customers, just like every other person in line. I'm not sure whether or not the cashiers realize that the store gets reimbursed for the money, if not this should be explained to them. Whether a person is using cash, coupons or a combination of both, the WM is still selling their products, and in the end it all works out.

    Maybe its time we act like the powerful group we are and present Walmart with an offer they cannot refuse! Train your staff to treat all customers right those with coupons or without or we could have a Walmart Blackout all across Canada!

    I'm really sorry to hear you were treated that way, definitely uncalled for.

    OP - sorry this happened. part of the reason I don't shop at WM, among other things... but others are right, you shouldn't feel like your stealing at all!! it's right in their policy.... just because the cashiers are not aware doesn't make them correct.

    I completely agree!! I NEVER shop at walmart.. for many reasons which I won't get into. I go there once before Christmas time when they open 24hrs, and shop in the middle of the night. I kind of wish people didn't think so highly about walmart...... it is not that great... but just my opinion!!

    Mine would refuse a coupon on an item like that because it has a bonus and they won't let you use coupons on bonus packs of anything. Their reasoning is that a bonus pack is "another offer" so you can't use coupons on it.

    ugh after my last couponing fiasco at walmart...(last of many) I made the decision to never coupon at walmart again unless it is a really really really good deal (like free) that being said I usually miss out on the walmart deals anyways because I very rarely go there to begin with.

    awesome deal BTW!!!! too bad they were such D-bags about it!! especially the cashier!!
