I've been using the Magic Jack for 2 years now and only had 1 or 2 drop calls and couple times on a power-out, I wasn't able to call.

But I/we only use the MJ for long distance calls anyways and we use our cellphone more often for locals calling and receiving calls

^ These are all valid points and issues. Every once in awhile my router will need a reboot and my phone is down and I don't notice right away. I've also had problems with dropped calls or poor sound quality...apparently sometimes I sound like I'm talking through a tunnel or underwater. (LOL). And the voice mail isn't working for me. Don't know why.

But...for the money? I suck it up. I always have my cell on me for back up anyway...

My MIL has a Magic Jack. Although she says it is great she has had some issues. She uses the one that plugs into her computer and it falls out constantly...maybe a computer issue...and when she took it to Nicaragua with her she was unable to receive calls, but when she called out it had crystal clear sound. I have thought about buying one, but need to do more research. This post had definitely answered some questions.

i've had it for over a year now.

i have a 10 mb connection with rogers with no issues in the phone quality. you do leave your computer up and running 24/7, but we do that anyways.

i love it. i have the original one. i was thinking about the newer model, but online read that some ppl had issues with it. i may upgrade in the future.

it's not 20 bucks tho. it's around 50-60 i think, plus 10 for Canadian numbers. still totally worth it tho.

I`m going to ask a stupid question and here it is:

Does MagicJack affect your bandwith usage, I figured I`d ask because we didn`t realize with had a bandwith limit and everything over is $1.00 a GB, thanks
2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

This is not my area of expertise either... lol... but it appears that it does to some degree:

I would call or email about it though! I can't see it using up very much, and it is such a great service

Thanks. I am still debating trying it. I appreciate the feedback.
