Don't ever feel bad about naming a price you are willing to pay for a car. They take it or they don't. If it is a Honda dealer and they have a used Chrysler, you have a better chance getting that discount.

    I got a $6,900 vehicle for my back-road adventures down to $4,200. A $2,700 savings. Yahoo!

Sounds like a good deal; way to go!

My DH works for an auto dealership and has gotten some amazing bargains on trade-in cars over the years; it's all a matter of shopping around, knowing the value of a vehicle, and (of course) being in the right place at the right time

    So true vesper.
    Works for new cars too.
We took our time to find a dealer who would work with us and not play games.

Then alls you have to do is drive the new car into the ground -- drive it for years and years.

I agree! We bought my car in the spring, original list price was $9000 we paid $7500 AND we got 4 new tires, new brakes, any dents/scratches taken out of it (was mostly scratches) new wipers, new rim for one of the tires, new mats for inside the car and an oil change. I think there might have been more but I cannot remember as it was quite the deal. Add to that we got their insulated lunch bag with some car cleaning promotion items and we were pretty happy. The price also included taxes, licensing and registration. Since we got it all I've had to do is get an oil change. Soon I will have to get a transmission flush though (I think thats what it was, cannot remember, on a paper somewhere) which is normal when any vehicle reaches 50,000 kms

New brakes and tires is well worth it! Great deal.
