Just wanted to say it burns my behind to know that people take advantage of SCOP in an abusive manner. I understand if a product a customer has in their basket (that is on clear out or in a clear out bin) rings up at a wrong price. That definitely calls for a SCOP. What I do not agree with is going back again and picking up another of the same product AND another of a different product in the same bin in order to get SCOP.

Why not just be happy with the first item that you intended to buy. There is no need to go back and try to get SCOP for every item in the clear out bin. That is just greed and abusive IMO.

    Yes...this did happen.

I'm assuming this rant is on behalf of a certain brag I read. If so, I don't see anything wrong with it. Its not abusing anything IMO. The store is the ones who should be going to fix the price right away. Like right that instant that the customer gets the SCOP. If not then its their own fault that someone keeps claiming SCOP on it whether its the same person or not.

I don't see how it would be any different then two or three or four or more customers claiming the same thing within the same night.

I have done SCOP on the same item 3 times in one week. First time I was going to use my coupon it rang up wrong so SCOP, told them where it was on the shelf and that 2 products were marked at that price. Went back a few days later to use my coupon again, (this is an item the kids use in their lunch so we go through alot) Rang up wrong again (SCOP) and this time manager came over and I told her it had come up wrong earlier in the week and she said they would fix it. Few days later, still trying to use my coupon before it expires, it came up wrong again, so SCOP. Ended up just getting a second box so I could use my coupon. Only done SCOP about 6 times and 3 of them for the same product.

If a store participates with SCOP then it's their responsibility to make sure that items in their store are coming up at the correctly posted price. They have wireless hand scanners, and an employee had to physically put the items in the clearance bin, so it should have been fixed at that time. Otherwise if they simply slapped reduced price stickers on it, SCOP wouldn't even apply.

Making this rant to directly take swipes at the SC member who posted the exact brag that matches what you have posted is inappropriate to say the least. It's no different than posting what you've posted here directly in her thread - both of which are against the rules

Your assumptions are wrong. I work in retail. I see this happen. Do not assume. My rant is not against any rules listed. I'm entitled to my opinion.

If a store does not correct their pricing error within 15 minutes or so of being told about a pricing error then they have no reason to complain about giving a SCOP. It's when customers deliberately go back as soon as they have paid to grab another of the same product and try to slyly go to another cashier to get the SCOP is what becomes abusive to me. Sometimes it's not possible to immediately remove the product from the shelf or bin or correct the price which I why I say within 15 mins.

Actually, it's not about anyone's brag. Sometimes it's not possible to fix that error "right that instant". If you were the customer behind the SCOP customer and the cashier said "Excuse me I'll be back as soon as possible. I have to go fix this pricing error" I'm pretty sure you would be a little bit frustrated having to wait.

There are many reasons why a pricing error can not be fixed "right that instant" but I do agree that a pricing error should be fixed within 15 mins and if another customer happens to pick up that item and claim SCOP. So be it. But for the original customer to go back and pick up the same item and duck into another cashiers line to receive SCOP is sneaky and IMO wrong.

Every store that I have EVER done a SCOP in has gone to verify that I am correct, given me my SCOP, and then made the necessary changes right at that moment.
SCOP is there for several reasons, and I think that the main reason why retailers participate in it is because there are people like me out there that watch their bills like a hawk, and point out any errors....which ends up saving them money.

IMO, if a customer has a chance to cash out and then go back into the store and then cash out again to get another SCOP on a product then the employees are not doing their jobs properly. Changing a price tag is not something that can wait.....with the amount of people going through stores and the massive amount of items that go through the inventory, a tag adjustment has to be taken care of right away...even more so to ensure that there is not any further loss because of others getting the SCOP because of a lapse in time.

SCOP is not a law. It is a guideline that companies CHOOSE to follow. If they did not want to participate, then they would not. They do though, and I am sure that they probably do so so that they have another tool that they can use to track the amount of money that they loose because of employees not doing their jobs properly.

Cashiers should not be fixing pricing errors. That is the responsibility of supervisors and managers. If a cashier has to go fix a pricing error then that is a problem within that particular business.

I had a SCOP at Walmart yesterday. I went to CS to have it fixed. CS fixed my issue and the department supervisor for the area I found the error in fixed it as soon as the CS contacted him to confirm the issue. I had a similar issue at Costco a few weeks ago, same thing. The CS went to the back to confirm, pulled the tag and then as she was processing my refund had a floor supervisor fix the sign. Always goes that way. I cannot remember one time where the tag was not fixed before they had processed my refund actually.

Nothing wrong with this. No reason a store can't do a computer update over night.

i don't agree or disagree with your rant - as far as i figure, to each their own. Maybe some ppl are being greedy, or maybe some figure the money they save with SCOP is money they can put towards bills, etc ... who knows.

Every time I have ever had a SCOP (and its rare unfortunately for me) a manager is called. The manager will walk from the CS desk to the cash line I am in, hear my story of the item priced incorrectly and then go and check. If they have time to go and check they have time to take down a wrong tag or wrong sign in my opinion. And just about every time the manager comes back they have had that price tag in their hands.

I agree with someone else, if the cashier themselves is expected to go and verify or remove the incorrect price sign then there is obviously something wrong with the way that store is being run.
