Before you go to bed.....The Shoppers Drug Marts that are open until midnight ARE RESTOCKING!!!
The one at Spadina and dupont had Cases of Caramilk bars by the choc section. I took a friend to teach her how to do this and I was pleasantly surprised they even had 20 bars left for her...and then we saw the stock clerks running around
She is happy with her 8000 points.
I'm of the option that the Kraft "Deal" may be to buy any 4 qualifying items. I.E. I'm not sure though and I'm too tired to try it tonight.
one peanut butter, a coffee, etc etc

I saw M & M pouches for 2 for $ 5 at SDM.
Not sure if theses are the ones with the Cineplex Movies tickets on them for mail in
8 pouches i.e $ 20 at SDM at 2 for 5 , gets you 2 Cineplex movie tickets
Maybe we should redeem some of our pts for these M & M if they have movie tkts on them , not sure if they are the same ones

Question - can you redeem your points any time of the year? If yes, does this work or make any sense to do:
1. Purchase 4 choc. bars 4 X $2 = $8 to get 8000 bonus points
2. On second trip - get 4 more choc. bars and redeem your 8000 points you just got above to get 4 free bars
Is this worth it at all?

You can redeem points any time of the year. I don't know how many redemptions you can do in a year though.
Fellow SCers have said that 8000pts is worth about $10. So you'd still have to buy a $2 item too. I guess you're not necessarily losing points, but you're not really gaining them either. You're just getting free chocolate and a $2 item....and you still have to pay the tax on that. Doesn't seem worth it to me, but it might to you.

With tax your cost is $9.04, as yesterday before I knew of the redemption/points transactions, I had purchased 4 bars twice outright.
So for $9.04 you get 8000 points which are worth $10 during normal redemption.
You then could use those 8000 points to do a $10 redemption, remembering that you have to hit $10 (so meaning you have to get 4 bars + a $2 item) and you will still be paying tax for the chocolates. At that point, its basically getting 26 cent chocolate bars.
Now, if you were to do this during normal redemption, its more 'worth' it:
Use $60 redemption which is 38,000 points, and get it all in chocolate bars(32 chocolate bars), you will make 64,000 points and use only 38,000, netting 26,000 points for just the taxes on the chocolate, which would be $12 or so OOP. 26,000 points during a mega redemption will get you at least $50 worth of stuff, so may be worth it.

Yes you can redeem points any time of the year.
But during super bonus redemption days you get extra value for your points .
So your points redeemed on those days buys you more stuff than redeeming them on any other normal day.
The above scenario makes sense. But its better if you pick up another $ 2.00 item as 8,000 pts = $ 10 , and the 4 bars you are buying are only 8 bucks , so you lose 2 bucks if you redeem for 10 bucks , they won't give you the difference back and nor do they cover the tax on the 8 bucks .

Curious whether Shoppers is still giving bonus points to those redeeming for chocolate today. I am working in marketing right now and love case studies like this
Apply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?). It's sweet and easy with HONEY.
Always use Ebates and get cash back at over 600 online stores! Use this link to get $5, FREE

I purchased 8 chocolate bars in separate transactions just to bump me up to get enough points to be able to redeem at the 25,000 and 95,000 points level. I am soooooo tempted to go again to get more chocolate bars even though the super bonus redemption is over. It still comes out to a great deal and I am down to 3000 points. Gotta replenish those points in case there is a mega redemption at the end of the year!!

Weekend deal with super redemption
Buy 112 Choc bars
Redeem 95,000 points
Pay about $30 in taX
Earn 242,000 points
Now the math is skewed so it would be
Buy 112 bars for 224.00 + 30 in taxes
Redeem 95,000 points 170.00
254.00 Total with tax
170.00 less redemption
$84.00 you pay that in cash
you should receive 224,000 points I'll leave the rest of the math/redemption ratios to othersLast edited by CurEuS; Mon, Sep 10th, 2012 at 12:03 PM.

just had a transaction with 2 gums and 2 mini Ritz (real cheese flavour, 200g), paid $14.87 but didn't get 8000 points! only 130 regular points. The cashier said you need to buy 4 of the same product, but I mixed the products yesterday with no problem. Not sure whether they started to limit 8000 to one card today, or maybe mini Ritz (cheese flavour) is not qualified. I purchased peanut butter flavour Ritz in 200g yesterday and got the bonus points.
