It was 478, and she got over $1000 in free points. It's the greed of human nature. It does seem extremely excessive, but the chemicals get going in the brain and next thing you end up with 478 chocolate bars and a $1000 worth of free stuff. I probably would have done the same thing, but my wife would have killed me ha ha ha

I do not see anything wrong here
SDM issued a promotion, do you really think that the people working there honestly did not know what they were doing
They had lot's of time to stop this promotion
They have assured people on FB they will not be taking back points
This promo was still working Monday evening
People who complain they didn't get enough/couldn't find any blah blah - next time wake up earlier
Taking back points at this point would be a slap in the face, I can see A LOT of returns happening and a lot of pissed off loyal SDM customers
Congrats OP on your haul - I caught it yesterday - you did amazing

Well, it would be relative to the person I would think
Some are happy with 4, some 8, some 500, some 75 - I do not think it is up to any individual to judge what a person should or should not redeem for. If the store does not place the limit and let's the customers run free - then so be it
I have always disliked the finger pointing in this forum when it comes to quantity
No you shouldn't have to wait at the store for the doors to open, but if you do notice a good promo, then go earlier than others so you can take advantage as well
My city is cleared out too, I did my fair share but I by no means bought the whole town out of chocolate - now I wait for some more stock and hopefully it will still work and we can all get some extra points out of this deal for whatever our needs maybe

sorry, i wasn't trying to cause a ruckus....i was just wondering what had happened to the original post!
Im thinking, that in the future....Shoppers is going to start limiting the # of bonus points you can accumulate on one deal.

It's possible that those who are having points removed could have been re-selling? I saw a post somewhere on a blog where someone was selling hundreds of Cadbury bars on kijiji and people said they reported it. According to the Optimum Card agreement, holders of cards cannot accumulate points on items for resale and the points can be taken away if they are found to be doing so.
I would guess the average individual, even if they got lots of points in one transaction, won't have points removed.
I didn't buy Cadbury bars this weekend. I bought 2 Lindt bars instead.
I looooove Lindt! I like Cadbury. And dh is supposed to avoid chocolate as it contributes to his kidney stones.
And while I was picking out my Lindt bars, another shopper gifted me with a coupon! And I ended up getting a free Tresemme product because of a SCOP.Last edited by super807; Tue, Sep 11th, 2012 at 11:15 AM.
