Thread: how sad is this

HOW SAD IS THIS:I am sick over the lack of respect people have for human life. A worker at Tim Horton's in North Sydney passed away while at work. The store did not close, the employees continued to work while this woman died. How disrespectful and disgusting this is. I guess the almighty dollar outweighs the value of human life. I will never, never, spend another dime at Tim Horton's. Those poor workers that stayed there will probably need counselling after this.Respect and compassion seem to have disappeared in today's society.

Part of the issue is that customers would throw a fit if the store was shut down...
I think it's absolutely disgusting that people no longer value human lives.

I have no idea the circumstances (is there a news link?) but it's so sad. I honestly cannot fathom just ignoring someone's death like it didn't happen or mean anything.

Just talked to my sister who lives in that town. It happened somewhere between sunday night monday morning. She went through the drivethrough at 5:30 am, she was unaware anything had happened until later. I expect it will come up on the Cape Breton Post webpage in the next day or two.
This decision to stay open was most likely made by the owner of the store, as the one in North Sydney is owned by a guy, who I think owns most if not all the Tim Horton's in Cape Breton. Hard person to work for according to friends who have had to work for him.
This is the local paper:

I don't see any comments on the Tim Horton's Facebook page, which must mean the comments are being removed. If you are upset about this, email the company, msg the company, twitter the company. The actions of this owner are awful and corporate should be aware of how this person is representing the Tim Horton's Brand.

Yup, the company is removing any posts from their FB page. I just saw someone post from Ontario, it stayed on the page 6 minutes until it was deleted.

Aren't Tim Hortons franchised? If so, it would seem that this particular franchisee lacks basic judgement...not Tim Hortons. That said, I can't imagine being the family of the deceased knowing that business went on as usual while their loved one passed away.
So many coupons....so little time!
