Thanks - I'm a member, but didn't get this email.

Last week tried the one in olive oil - but used it for tuna salad for sandwiches and even with me draining it well, it was still way too oily and too strong of a taste.
Next time, will use it in a casserole or something.

I had the same thing happen!!! I had the Sun dried tomato and Olive oil one. On the ingredients list it says there are 18grams of fat in the whole can, when I opened it, oil came out over the lid and I could tell there was a LOT of oil in it, I poured all the oil into a ramekin, and weighted it on a food scale and it said 34 Grams of oil..... a lot more than the 18 grams it states. I called the company they said some of the batches were sent out with more oil than was suppose to be.

They said that if you encounter a can with what appears to be too much oil, you can return it to the store for a new one and if there is any issue with the return the store can call Cloverleaf to verify it. I drained the one I had opened really well and then ate it, the unopened ones from the batch I returned to the store and got a new batch number.

Its a good possibility, she said the first few batches they produced had too much, they have since corrected the issues, but there are still lots of the older batches out there, so if you get one like that you can return it to the store for a new one.

I buy Italian Tuna brand Rio Mare which comes in oil instead of water. And lots and lots of oil. I only peel off a quarter of the lid, drain all the oil into the sink, then peel off the rest of the lid and enjoy the flavour that is left, but very little oil. This could be a good option for those who can't make it to the store to exchange

Yeah, even the normal amount of oil that is suppose to be in these is quite a bit, I always cut the lid off and squeeze the oil out till its dry, I could never imagine myself eating that much oil, even the 18 grams that the good batch would have is more than I eat in a day, so I drain and squeeze it with the lid as well. Still has lots of flavor without all the oil.
