I was speechless! My daughter went to her music class this evening and hang her winter jacket (a beautiful North Face one) onto a rack in the waiting room outside the private class. When her lesson finished 30 min later and we got out, her jacket had already gone!!! Who could steal a child jacket when it was cold outside? I asked a woman, who is another student's mother and seemed to have been sitting there in the waiting room since we came, and she said she did not pay any attention and did not know if anyone took it! I am so mad, so sad.

It's a child's jacket and who could be so heartless to steal a child's jacket in the first place? Secondly, who could be so daring to steal a jacket in front of the face of another person sitting there? Thirdly, how could the thief be so quick to see that my child's jacket was a high-quality one to steal it (admittedly there were just a few jacket hung up there)? Fourthly, it was a quiet area and only parents with children learning music at that location could come in and out and who could commit such horrible act towards another child? Fifthly, if someone has enough money to send their children to a music centre, how could they become a thief of a moment?
It was a bad luck day for us. Normally my kid wore another inferior branded jacket but today it became cold and she took out her North Face winter jacket. She also hang up her jacket in the waiting room like most other students did when they had their lessons in the private rooms. I often took her jacket and put into my shopping cart and brought it into the lesson room but this time I did not bring my shopping cart, thus with 2 full grocery bags in my hands, I told her to hung her jacket outside. Who could imagine that just half an hour later it disappeared!!!

Now my daughter no longer has her winter jacket and the winter is coming

I'm sorry that happened to your daughter. I makes me so mad that people do this. My son had a VERY nice, cozy warm sweater stolen yesterday when he was at the YMCA. I know it was a parent that took it because a guy that works there told me he found it and gave it to the front desk. The lady told me they wash it overnight before putting it in the lost and found. We went afterschool to look for it and it was gone. I'm sick of those parents that steal nice stuff for their kids. I swear if i see a kid wearing this sweater at the Y, i'm going to confront him. Its not a mass produced sweater and we have never seen anyone with the same one. The nerve of some people!! I hope you find her coat.

Thank you for your sympathy, peachies! I am still very mad honestly after venting. Unfortunately, today was her last lesson at this centre (how unlucky we were, because we decided to arrange a home music lesson program for her so that she will not have to go out in the winter to her class) and we would not come back there so we do not even have a chance to check if someone wears my child's jacket. My child's jacket is also rather unique in the sense that it was bought abroad.
I am also sorry for your son's stolen sweater. Now I am no longer naive after reading your sharing experience. I would never could imagine that a parent could do such a bad thing! Do they believe that karma exists, both good and bad?

When children are young i truly believe its the parents who steal these type of items. No child would be interested in stealing an article of clothing, toys maybe but not clothes. Some people just don't care and are greedy. Yes karma will come back to bite, maybe they will have something of value stolen from them and they will see how upsetting it is.

OP that is LOW. The rants here keep getting worse and worse. What's wrong with society? I really hope someone took it by mistake..
Re : Peaches:
You should consider confronting the child's parents and not the child. The child may know nothing about where the sweater came fromApply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?). It's sweet and easy with HONEY.

Maybe you could put an ad in lost and found section of the local newspaper.Just give a description of the coat where it went missing from and say you would like the coat back and nothing will happen to the person who returns the coat.

It is so sad that they would steal a childs jacket, but hopefully karma will get them in the end.So sickening really, it has also happened to one of my kids & when you think how hard you worked & scraped & saved to buy these things its very maddening.

This is why I will never ever leave my stuff where I can't always see it.
We were emailed last night from my job about them tearing down our tent tomorrow so we won't be allowed to lock our stuff up in lockers they have to be stored in the site office with everyone's belongings. I don't think so! I'm putting my transit pass, credit card, and some cash in a mini skinny and wearing a hoodie with zippered pockets so that I can store my mini skinny, keys and phone in them and not have to leave my stuff for someone else to decide they like and take. We wear our coats since we are outdoors in tents so that isn't a problem, but my phone is a $700 phone there is no way I'm leaving it laying around for someone to steal. We aren't allowed to have them on site with us while we are working but I say too bad what are they going to do fire me on the last day of work LOL!
Not bringing a purse to lay around either with other peoples stuff because I own a lot of unique vintage bags that are all mostly designer...I would have a hard time trying to replace them if they were stolen and they are easily recognized as designer so not going to leave it in the office with tons of other people coming and going!Last edited by roseofblack25; Sat, Nov 3rd, 2012 at 12:34 PM.

Ughhh, that is so upsetting....don't blame yourself, who would imagine someone would take a child's coat. Have heard stolen items sometimes pop up on Kijiji but usually things like stollers, bikes. too bad they didnt have a security camera.

When I read this I wondered if perhaps it was taken by mistake. That has happened to me before. Two coats that look similar and the person mistakenly takes the wrong one. Perhaps at the next lesson the person will return the jacket.

It's totally the parents, or a mistake. If my six year old came home with a jacket that was not his (expensive or not), I'd be bringing it back.
Last year, my DS came home without his snow pants one day. Now they were not anything fancy, just (fortunately) one of two pairs he had. I guess some parents don't notice, but if my kid came home with something that wasn't his, I would have realized that they were not his.

Or, ask to post a sign above the coat rack at the place she was taking lessons... You could include your phone number. Check, too, with the management of the place... maybe someone will turn the coat in and explain that they grabbed the wrong one. I really doubt that most people would be out to steal a coat... especially among people who can afford to take their kids to private lessons.

These are the same people who won't think twice before stealing a baby stroller or the wheelchair of a handicapped person

In my neighbourhood a woman actually had one of those electronic scooters which she needs to get around stolen from her
.. It probably costs thousands of dollars to replace
